The 360Penguin Panoramic Camera from 360RIZE allows you to easily capture, share, and live stream high-resolution 360° videos, photos, and time-lapse sessions. It captures 5.7K resolution 360° video at 12 fps, 4K 360° video at real-time 30 fps, and 24MP 360° photos. The image is automatically stitched in-camera and output in 2:1 equirectangular format, so you won't have to stretch the image into a 2:1 format in editing in order to share it. (Notice how all the resolutions listed in the Specs tab are in a 2:1 ratio.) Two fixed focal length 1.5mm fisheye lenses, one on each side, each captures a 210° image and the internal stitching combines them into one immersive 360° image. The camera also records audio via a built-in microphone and has a built-in speaker.
The 360Penguin has a flat bottom so it can be placed on flat surfaces. It also comes with a flexible mini tripod that can be set on uneven surfaces as well as wrapped around branches, gates, and other objects to hold the camera. A built-in battery provides about one hour of operating time. For longer runtimes, you can connect an optional power bank to the camera's USB Type-C port. A 5000mAh power bank will provide approximately 7 hours of runtime, which can be used for long time-lapse sessions and live streaming, and everything can be recorded to up to a 128GB microSD card. To connect a power bank, mount the camera on the included mini tripod, and this will allow you to open the bottom door of the camera for access to the USB Type-C port (the microSD card slot is there too). The tripod mount thread is on the bottom left of the camera. In order for the mini tripod to leave room for you to open the bottom door, the circular platform on the tripod's mounting screw needs to be removed and the camera then mounted on the screw. Alternatively, you can use an optional 360Rize Live Streaming Mount, which is all-aluminum and provides a much sturdier support. It can be used to attach the camera to any 1/4"-20 support and, thanks to its robust design, is especially useful when the camera is in motion, such as when mounted on a helmet or moving vehicle. The USB Type-C port is also used for charging the internal battery and for data transfers.
An included iOS/Android app (free download) syncs up with the Penguin over the camera's built-in Wi-Fi and allows you to control the camera, monitor your shots, set up time-lapse sessions, share images and recordings directly to social media, and live stream to social media. You can also save stitched images and recorded footage to your mobile device via the app. There are two ways to live stream from the 360Penguin. You can broadcast via the app, or you can connect the camera to a Wi-Fi network and stream directly from the camera after making a few setting selections in the app. Either way, you don't need to be connected to a computer.
