Product description The EM-Blue 500 Series Microphone Preamp from A-Designs is one of the company's five 500 series-compatible mic/line preamps, each one voiced for a specific sonic functionality by using different alloys for the windings on their custom-wound transformers to create a particular tonal character. The EM-Blue is equipped with a nickel custom-wound output transformer for accentuated highs, and is the brightest-sounding preamp of the EM-Series. It produces an airy, top-end oriented tone that can complement dark-sounding mics and instruments, and provides a crisp "crack" for recording a snare drum. When used with electric guitar, the -20 dB pad allows you to crank the gain to add some dirt and growl. The EM-Blue can be used in applications for live performance, recording, broadcast environments, and more. The module is built with a 1/4" mic/line input and has 48V phantom power with an LED to indicate when it is active. A phase button and -20 dB pad are also located on the front panel, along with a large gain-control knob. With five distinctive preamp modules to choose from, the 500 series platform makes it possible to construct your own custom signal-processing array. The EM-Blue 500 Series Microphone Preamp is compatible with any API or VPR Alliance mounting device, and also meets the precise power rating requirements necessary to function from the moment you plug it in. The hardware rack is sold separately. - The alloys used for the transformer's winding - along with the number of windings - will impart a distinct sonic quality. The EM-Blue's nickel-wound transformers provide a transparent sound with an airy high end
- The mic preamp is also useful for providing a crisp "crack" when recording a snare drum
- The EM-Blue's nickel transformers enhance the sound of an electric guitar, and its -20 dB pad enables you to crank up the gain for a slight growl
