Product description The A-Designs Ventura SE is a solid-state preamplifier with a microphone section, an instrument section, and a 3-band EQ, which may be used together or independently, all with individual inputs and outputs. This versatile 3-input / 3-output architecture enables you to route and patch effects into the signal path in a variety of ways while maintaining high audio fidelity. Designed for live sound applications or to integrate with the digital world as the front end of a DAW setup, the Ventura SE provides a clear and transparent signal with all the detail, air, extended bass, and warmth characteristic of high-quality, discrete analog circuitry. Drive the unit a little harder, and the output transformers saturate to give you additional sound coloration, while retaining clarity.At the heart of the Ventura SE lie three, specially-designed, discrete bipolar transistor operational amplifiers, which are powered off high-voltage rails. The op-amps offer high gain, a fast slew rate, and a stable audio block with virtually no DC offset over the audio spectrum. The circuits are capable of driving a low load with little current draw. The Main and Mic/Instrument outputs are both equipped with Cinemag balanced output transformers.The mic pre uses a Jensen input transformer with a balanced, single-stage discrete op-amp. It features a phase reverse switch, a -20 dB pad, +48V phantom power, and a gain control. The preamp offers 72 dB of gain and simultaneously feeds the EQ section and a dedicated preamp output. The front-panel Instrument input feeds a single-stage discrete op-amp, which is separate from the mic pre. This high-impedance, unbalanced preamplifier design is ideal for guitar and bass pickups, as well as keyboards such as vintage synthesizers. The instrument preamp also feeds the EQ and preamp output simultaneously.The 3-band, Quad-Eight-style parametric EQ features thirty-three frequencies grouped into three overlapping bands with frequencies ranging from 50 Hz to 15 kHz. Dual concentric knobs allow you to pick frequencies and impart 12 dB of boost or cut. Each band has a Q switch with three fixed positions: Sharp, Wide, Normal.
