Product description Providing 60W of amplification through its 1x8" twin-cone speaker, the Tommy Emmanuel Signature Compact from AER is a two-channel combo amplifier geared toward acoustic guitarists. It's modeled on AER's Compact 60, giving you a dual-channel operation quite suitable for singer/songwriters, with independent tone sections for your guitar and your voice. The first order of customization in accordance with Tommy Emmanuel's wishes are cosmetic: Aboriginal art has been etched into one side of the cabinet, intended to highlight Tommy's patriotic love for Australia—particularly, his connection to Aboriginal Australians. On the other side of the cabinet, a tribute to his mentor has been engraved: the initials CGP (certified guitar player) comprise a designation given to him from the legendary Chet Atkins, who only awarded five guitarists in total with the honorific. Another update as sanctioned by Emmanuel is the on-board inclusion of an effect near and dear to his heart—a particular reverb/delay setting from the Alesis Midiverb II. This is now available to you in position three. - Front Panel Controls
- The front panel allows you a conventional 1/4" instrument input for channel one, while channel two utilizes a combination jack, and thus, allows for both XLR and 1/4" connections. Channel one provides gain, bass, middle, and treble controls, as well as a high/low selector to suit various types of pickups. The Colour button activates a tone-shaping filter, changing the relationship between the midrange and high-end frequencies. Over in channel two you'll find gain, bass, and treble controls, as well as a selector that allows you to choose between mic and line inputs.
- Rear Panel Connectivity
- Turn your attention to the rear panel and you'll note a bevy of connection points—no fewer than seven, in fact. Here you'll find your connections for headphones, a 1/4" line out, a tuner, a footswitch, and your effects loop. Lastly, an XLR output allows you to feed a DI to a mixer, interface, or PA system.
- On-Board Effects
- A comprehensive effects section allows you to access reverb, delay, and chorus, with the level knob dictating the dry/wet signal ratio. In a subtle, personal touch, AER has incorporated a reverb/delay effect setting from the Alesis Midiverb II, long used by Emmanuel, into the Compact TE's onboard effects section (you'll find this effect in position 3).
- Parallel Effects Loop & Footswitch
- Should you wish to utilize outboard gear, you can do so through a parallel effects loop, the output of which can be blended at varying degrees with channel one, channel two, or any combination thereof—all via the pan knob. It can also be instantiated via the footswitch input.
- Phantom Power Capabilities
- Microphones requiring 48V phantom power can be connected to the XLR-socket of channel 2 directly.
