Product description House of Worship: Sound Reinforcement from Course Technology and written by Jamie Rio and Chris Buono provides everything you need to know to become a sound technician in a house of worship and beyond. Starting with the basic foundations of sound, you'll progress into learning how the sound in your house of worship is captured with microphones, fed into the mixing console, processed, and then sent out through the speaker system to both the congregation and the worship team. You will learn how to create an optimal environment for projecting sound in your worship space and you will discover what it takes to maintain your system as well as how to readjust and/or create a new system for outreach events. Although the concepts in this book are complex, they are conveyed in non-technical language, so even if you have no experience with sound reinforcement, the book's contents are easy to follow and put into practice. The authors focus on real-world situations and setups while avoiding discussions of physics and math, which can be confusing and intimidating. Whether you are just beginning your journey into live sound, you've been mixing at your own house of worship for a period of time, or you have years of experience already logged in, you will surely find useful information, tricks of the trade, and sound advice in this book that will serve you for years to come.
About the Author: President and founder of dti Publishing Jamie Rio's first foray into the music industry goes back almost three decades to when he recorded and toured throughout Brazil with his band, BackStreets. He later worked as a recording engineer in a variety of studios in the Los Angeles area, while continuing to record music and tour with various bands. As Jamie's expertise in sound reinforcement developed, he found himself focusing more on technical reference journalism and starting his live sound company, RioDeluxe Audio. Since the creation of RioDeluxe Audio, Jamie has been behind the console for more than 3,000 live events. Jamie also currently writes the "Sound Sanctuary" column for F.O.H. magazine.
Chris Buono has been called many things: arcane improviser, sound diabolist, fearless composer, content junkie, video stunt guitarist, crazed educator--the list goes on. In simpler terms, he is a recording artist (Lava/Atlantic, Lion Music, LNR, E-Magine Music, RKM/Kindred); sideman (Karsh Kale, Rodney Holmes' Lithium Tree, Graham Haynes, Bumblefoot, and more); music journalist/columnist (Guitar Player, Guitar One, Just Jazz Guitar magazines to name a few); educator (Berklee College of Music, National Guitar Workshop); author (Course Technology PTR, Alfred); video clinician (TrueFire, Guitar One); product clinician (M-Audio, First Act, Source Audio, Pigtronix); and more. Whatever you call him, this cat is busy. With a guitar in hand and a slew of gadgets within arm's reach, Chris Buono infiltrates the modern world of guitar from all directions and shows no signs of slowing down. Table of Contents
