Product description The Alphatron Broadcast Electronics 4 x 5.65" Matte Box with Swing Away Kit for 15mm Rods allows you to use up to three 4 x 5.65" (Panavision sized) filters when shooting with lenses that feature a front outer lens barrel diameter of 143mm, without requiring the use of support rods. This kit includes a 15mm LWS rod clamp that converts the clip-on matte box to rod mounted. The swing away rod support allows you to move the matte box out of the way during lens changes, without having to remove it from the rods. This speeds lens changes, compared with non-swing away matte boxes. The matte box features two fixed filter stages, includes two 4 x 5.65 filter trays, and features small thumbscrews that lock the filter trays into the stage, useful for setting the vertical position of grad filters. The matte box also features a recess in the front of the box that accepts an additional 4 x 5.65" filter, allowing the matte box to support up to three 4 x 5.65" filters.
The matte box includes a removable eyebrow (top flag) that attaches to a lockable hinge that allows you to set the position of the flag and lock it in place. Lockable side hinges for available side flags are built into the matte box. It also incorporates adjustable internal top and bottom flags, which can be used to protect the lens from flares. The included 138 to 114mm step down adapter ring allows you to use the matte box with lenses that feature a 114mm front barrel outer diameter. - Two filter stages with filter tray locks for securing the filter or setting filter height.
- A recess, with spring latch, allows you to put a 4 x 5.65" filter directly into the front of the matte box without a filter frame.
- The 15mm rod clamp works with LWS rods that feature a 60mm on center distance between the rods. It is not for 15mm studio rod supports.
- The swing away bracket allows you to quickly move the matte box out of the way during lens changes, without removing it from the rods. This allows you to change lenses quicker, by just swinging the matte box away, and not having to remove the matte box from the rods, find a place to put it, and then put it back on the rods when you have finished changing your lens.
- The built-in internal top and bottom eyebrows are adjustable, allowing you to control glare, and flare, keeping the matte box small and compact.
- The included removable top flag attaches to the top of the matte box via the lockable hinge that allows you to precisely set the position of the flag, and lock it so that it does not move during the shot.
- The matte box features built-in lockable hinges on the top, and on both sides, for use with available top and side flags.
- This matte box can be converted to a clip-on matte box by removing the swing away bracket. Please note that clip-on matte boxes generally work best with lenses that feature an internal focus mechanism, so that the front of the lens does not rotate as the lens is focused. Most modern prime and zoom lenses feature this construction.
