Product description An ideal addition to your accessory kit, the 1.25" Alpine Astronomical Baader Contrast Booster Filter is a jack-of-all-trades multi-tasker that, when used by itself or stacked with colored planetary filters, will enhance your views and appreciation of the night sky. Boasting a 95% transmittance, the filter's rear face has a 7-layer hard-multi-coating, while the front face has a 23-layer dielectric long-pass blocker coating. The filter helps to correct chromatic aberrations on refractors and removes the bluish tint, or lack of contrast, that is common during lunar and terrestrial observation to present natural and neutral colors. It strongly emphasizes surface detail on Mars and Jupiter— especially the Great Red Spot. Its properties make it a natural light pollution filter that blocks stray atmospheric light, turning the sky a pitch black for enhanced contrast of bright and dim objects against the backdrop of space.
