Product description Ideal for imaging through Cassegrains and achromatic refractor optical tubes (OTAs), the Alpine Astronomical Baader Double-Stacked Solar Continuum Filter improves the contrast and reduces the appearance of atmospheric turbulence during solar photography sessions. It must be used with the included AstroSolar broadband (white-light) ND 3.8 safety solar film or another primary solar filter.By stacking two Continuum filters you remain centered on the 540nm wavelength, but with a narrower 8nm half-bandpass, reducing the transmission range to just 536-544nm—further improving the contrast versus a single filter. It completely cuts the blue and red wavelengths, virtually eliminating chromatic aberrations on refractors and SCTs. The filter surface is dielectrically-coated with anti-reflection coatings to transmit the maximum amount of light through, and precision planeoptically polished to limit distortion and color fringing. It comes mounted for easy installation on just about any 1.25" eyepiece, diagonal, Barlow lens, or other accessory with standard 1.25" filter threads.This is not a solar filter and requires the use of a primary broadband or narrow-band solar filter, such as the one included, to prevent permanent eye damage, up to and including blindness. The filter is intended for imaging only, and is not recommended for viewing the sun.
