Product description A Buying Guide for Solar and Solar Eclipse Viewing Read More bsdfyryurutbv Designed to be used with telescopes of virtually any aperture or focal length for capturing pictures of the sun, the Alpine Astronomical Baader Planetarium Double-Stacked Ca-K Solar Imaging Filter has standard filter threads that fits onto conventional 1.25" eyepieces for projection photography, and astrophotography imaging systems and accessories to improve resolution and reveal solar features such as super-granulations and flares. Employing special coatings in a double-stacked configuration, Alpine is able to isolate a 8nm wide bandpass centered on the Calcium K-line wavelength of 395nm. In addition to imaging the sun, the filter's narrow bandpass enables imagers to record Venusian cloud structures.For proper use, Alpine recommends a front energy rejection filter (ERF) be employed to deflect radiation and heat from entering the lightpath. It's for this that they include an 8x11" sheet of Baader AstroSolar neutral density 3.8 photo film. This material can be mounted on most telescopes using the on-line instructions for fabricating your own filter housing, located on the Alpine Astronomical website. Standard ERFs may also be used, including Alpine's Baader Safety Herschel Prism. - Safe Use and Handling
