Product description A must-have for photographing and imaging the night sky, the Alpine Astronomical Baader UV/IR Cut / Luminance Filter blocks ultraviolet light below 400nm and infrared above 680nm to allow only the visual spectrum between to pass through. Using this filter during imaging sessions, especially when stacked with other colored filters with monochrome cameras, allows you to capture very specific wavelengths without ghosting—notably in the high red and low violet regions. When used as a pre-filter for solar viewing/imaging, it helps to reject much of the harmful heat energy before the primary solar filter, preventing damage and the potential for failure during prolonged use.Helping to boost transmission to over 98% across the visible spectrum are seven-layer scratch-resistant multi-coatings and planeoptically polished surfaces, which work together for maximum throughput and uniform edge-to-edge transmission. This version of the UV/IR filter is offered here as an unmounted 36mm round option for custom applications and imaging systems.
