Product description Replenish the power in 1-8 NiCd or NiMH batteries simultaneously with this Ansmann Powerline 8 AA/AAA Battery and USB Charger. The device allows you to charge both AA and AAA batteries at the same time. A USB out port allows for the charging of mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets, as well. You can insert 4 AAAs, 4 AAs, 2 of each size, or 2 of either size. Individual monitoring ensures each battery is charged for the appropriate amount of time, so that it reaches its maximum capacity.
For batteries that have spent long periods of time in storage, a discharge function is available to refresh the cells and increase their usable life. Additionally, microprocessor-controlled technology allows for an automatic shut-off once batteries are fully charged. This function stops the normal flow of current and switches to a trickle charge, a.k.a. buffer charge with current impulses, to prevent overcharging. As a result, the batteries can safely remain in the charger until you're ready to use them.
A convenient LED monitor provides individual readouts of the current program mode for each charging slot. A flashing red LED will indicate if a non-rechargeable or defective battery has been inserted accidentally into the device. As an added safety measure, the charger features reverse polarity protection to prevent damage in the event that batteries are inserted incorrectly.
