Product description Packaged together for your convenience, this Antelope Discrete 8 Interface Bundle includes four Verge modeling microphones, two Edge Solo modeling microphones, a Premium FX Pack, and the titular Discrete 8 Interface. The six modeling microphones provided herein, along with the eight-channel interface and premium effects pack, provide you with many tools for recording and monitoring audio. With this bundle, you could, for example, mic and record an entire drum set and make it sound as though you recorded the drums using famed microphones of yesteryear. The Discrete 8 sports eight mic preamps. For digital connections, it provides USB, Thunderbolt, ADAT, and S/PDIF. The interface can record audio at a sampling rate of up to 192 kHz. The four Verge microphones have small-diaphragm condenser capsules that capture sound transparently. With the included software, you can emulate the characteristics of classic and vintage microphones and apply them to the audio you've recorded. The Edge Solo also models prized mics, doing so in a large-diaphragm condenser form-factor and utilizing a fixed cardioid polar pattern. - Discrete 8 Thunderbolt/USB 26x32 Audio Interface with Premium FX Pack The Antelope Discrete 8 with Premium FX Pack is a Thunderbolt/USB 26x32 audio interface designed to provide high-end tracking and monitoring functions, real-time effects, and remote control capabilities for musicians and engineers in personal, project, and commercial recording studios and rehearsal spaces. - Customizable Signal Path
-
- The Discrete 8's console-grade and fully discrete preamps were designed to offer high-end, customizable sound. The powerful Antelope Audio FPGA engine can transform these Accusonic preamps into several classic-sounding units via models of circuitry based on tubes, transformers, and FETs.
- Both the engineer and the performer can instantly hear the blends of 10 different mic preamps without any latency or comb filtering. The microphone source can be recorded with and without Accusonic modeling. This allows the engineer to choose between preamp models during mixing. You can even load AFX presets from VIP Masters with their favorite combinations of FPGA FX that are used daily on their own award-winning mixes.
- Discrete Microphone Preamplifiers
-
- Traditionally, interface preamps are comprised of two transistors, which makes them a hybrid between transistors and IC chips. Antelope Audio incorporates a fully discrete design consisting of six accurately matched transistors. Field effect transistors add a touch of warmth to the sound and bipolar transistors keep THD and noise extremely low.
- Accurate Clocking
-
- The Discrete 8 features Antelope’s 4th generation 64-bit Acoustically Focused Clocking (AFC) technology from the acclaimed Trinity, OCX HD, LiveClock, Pure2, Goliath, Orion, and Zen products. Discrete 8 comes with a word clock input that can de-jitter and distribute an external clock signal. Three word clock outputs allow you to distribute clock signals to your other digital gear and to mic preamps in your setup connected via ADAT and S/PDIF.
- Versatile Monitoring
-
- Discrete 8 has a comprehensive and easy to configure monitoring and talkback section. A band can have up to four individual monitoring mixes with FPGA FX included sent to headphones or monitor outputs. The engineer can make custom headphone mixes for each performer. Effects can be included to allow artists to hear sound closer to what will be on the record.
- Users can create custom presets to easily set up various tracking scenarios in a snap. The front panel features a monitor volume knob and dedicated knobs for each headphone output. The Talkback mic is also built into the front panel right above the Talkback button. Additionally, Talkback can be engaged via the assignable footswitch on the back, in the EasyPanel software, or via the iOS/Android app. Metering is viewable on the front panel display, inside the EasyPanel, and via the remote App.
- Remote Control
-
- Use the Discrete 8 downloadable remote app to adjust all microphone input levels, talkback levels, and monitoring and headphone volumes remotely. Musicians can control their own headphone volume with their phones and the engineer can check input levels from the tracking room.
- Cross-Platform Compatibility
-
- The Discrete 8 can be connected via Thunderbolt or USB 2.0 and is compatible with Mac OS X and Windows systems
- Verge Small-Diaphragm Condenser Modeling Microphone The Antelope Verge is a microphone designed to be paired with Antelope’s FPGA hardware modeling to give you a digital, tonal emulation of acclaimed vintage microphones. This system relies on the company’s FPGA technology, which provides low latencies whilst recording, as well as an extremely light touch on the CPU side. The resulting behavior (and timbre) of these digital processes is similar to analog gear. The Verge itself is a small-diaphragm, back-electret condenser microphone. An SPL-handling of 146 dB allows it to capture loud, percussive sounds, such as drums. With a frequency response of 40 Hz to 20 kHz, the Verge microphone, combined with Antelope’s FPGA-based preamp modeling, compressors, and EQs, aims to give you the expressiveness, feel, and tone of famous vintage microphones.
- Accusonic 3D Modeling Engine
- With the included FPGA engine, you can emulate the sound of vintage microphones and exert control over proximity effect, off-axis response, and polar pattern—during or after recording. You can choose from a collection of classic and expensive microphones and track the results as you monitor live.
UPC: 853744004519 - Edge Solo Large-Diaphragm Cardioid Modeling Microphone The Antelope Edge Solo is a large-diaphragm condenser primarily designed to be used with Antelope's microphone modeling technology. This technology emulates the characteristics of various vintage and classic microphones.
The Solo sports a cardioid polar pattern, and as such, models the characteristic of classic cardioid mics. The mic itself sports a 1.3" gold-sputtered membrane and captures frequencies between 20 Hz to 20 kHz. It does this transparently thanks to its low-resonance construction. The mic is designed to work with Antelope's interfaces, and as such, comes with the commensurate FPGA-based emulations. However, the mic also works with third-party interfaces, and that's why Antelope has included native plug-ins that work with Mac and Windows systems, so long as you have an iLok 2 or iLok 3. The Edge Solo includes a hard mount and a standard case. - Single Capsule, Single-Membrane Construction
- Housed in a specially designed low-resonance body with a sleek matte black finish, the Edge Solo features a 6-micron gold-sputtered capsule.
- Included FPGA and Native Emulations
- The Edge emulations are designed to work hand-in-hand with Antelope's own precision mic preamps and converters. The Edge Solo can be used with any of Antelope Audio's mic preamp-equipped interfaces, whose built-in FPGA processing capabilities allow real-time vintage mic emulation.
However, the mic also includes Antelope's native mic emulation plug-ins, meaning you can use any third-party audio interface, and even change modeling settings after recording. Available in VST, AU, and AAX formats for both macOS and Windows, Antelope's native AFX plug-ins provide minimal latency, a high degree of oversampling, and precise floating-point calculations. An iLok 2 or iLok 3 is required for these emulations, and it is available separately. - Emulations Include:
