Product description The black Essential SurgeArrest 3-Outlet Surge Protector with USB Charging from APC sports three NEMA 5-15R outlets that protect your connected equipment from power surges, spikes, and lighting, as well as three surge-protected USB Type-A charging ports for your mobile devices. One of the three outlets is built with a BlockSpace design, which helps prevent the blocking of an outlet when using a transformer-sized adapter. In addition to these features, APC has outfitted this SurgeArrest with a device stand, so you can position a tablet or smartphone in a suitable viewing angle while charging.
This surge protector comes with an integrated 6' NEMA 5-15P cable that connects to your wall socket. With two integrated LED indicators, you are warned of your building's wiring faults or damage to the surge protector's circuits. Moreover, it provides a nominal input voltage of 120V at 50/60 Hz, up to 1080 joules of protection, and noise filtering, which helps to reduce line noise from electromagnetic interference (EMI) and radio frequency interference (RFI), thus ensuring better performance of protected equipment with fewer device lockups. - Most other surge suppressors continue to let power through even after their circuits have been damaged, leaving your equipment exposed to future surges. APC's SurgeArrest is fail safe, which means that once the circuit of an APC SurgeArrest has been compromised, the unit disconnects equipment from the power supply ensuring, that no damaging surges reach your equipment.
- Protection Working Indicator
- SurgeArrest will warn you if its circuitry has been damaged by heavy strike or power line surge and it is unable to provide 100% protection. If still under warranty, APC will then replace your damaged SurgeArrest free of charge.
- Ground OK Indicator
- This LED is normally illuminated, indicating that the building wiring is grounded properly. The LED extinguishes to indicate that a wiring fault has been detected. Possible wiring faults include a missing ground, a hot neutral polarity reversal, or an overloaded neutral circuit. Discontinue use and have a qualified electrician correct the wiring.
- Catastrophic Event Protection
- SurgeArrest components such as MOVs and Thermal Fuse help ensure a quick reaction to lightning strikes and wiring faults. If the surge components are damaged due to a power spike or voltage surge, excess power cannot reach your equipment.

Lower IEEE let-through ratings indicate better protection and performance. The APC Essential SurgeArrest series offers performance with a let-through rating of less than 330 to 500V for North American products, and a rating of less than 15% for products sold worldwide. All APC products comply with local agency safety requirements, including UL in North America.
