Product description The Two-Channel Aphex Aural Exciter and Optical Big Bottom Effects Processor is a 1U 19" rack mountable post-processing effect designed to enhance details in your mix and add deep powerful low-end without unnecessary EQ boosting.
The device can be used in a wide variety of applications such as mixing in a recording studio, enhancing elements for live sound, adding clarity and intelligibility to installed sound setups, adding excitement to a DJ mix or karaoke session, and improving detail in audio for webcasting and Internet broadcasting.
The Aural Exciter processing circuit restores and recreates harmonics in the signal to enhance the differences in voicing and sonic details of a mix. Restoring the harmonics improves the clarity, presence, and intelligibility of the music. The device uses a Transient Discriminate Harmonics Generator to restore the harmonics over a wide range of signal inputs and program material.
The Big Bottom processing circuit provides a more powerful bass sound with increased density and sustain without boosting the peak output. Unlike bass-boost EQs or subharmonic generators that can increase the overload distortion of the signal, the Big Bottom circuit contours the bass response between 50 and 200 Hz to improve the perception of low frequencies.
The front panel of the device features a power button, and process on and off buttons for channels 1 and 2. Both channels feature Drive, Freq-Hz selector (from 600 to 5,000 Hz), and Amount knob controls for the Aural Exciter circuit. Both channels 1 and 2 also feature Drive, Freq-Hz selector (from 50 to 200 Hz), and Amount knob controls for the Optical Big Bottom circuit.
The back panel of the device features 3-pin XLR female inputs and 1/4" inputs for channels 1 and 2. For outputs, channels 1 and 2 have both 3-pin XLR male and 1/4" output jacks. A switch allows you to change the operating level of channels 1 and channel 2 between +4 dBu and -10 dBV.
