Product description The ARC-8050T2 32TB (8 x 4TB) 8-Bay Thunderbolt 2 RAID Enclosure from Areca is an 8-bay enclosure that is capable of holding both 2.5" and 3.5" SAS and SATA 6 Gb/s hard drives and solid state drives. The back of the enclosure features two 20 Gb/s Thunderbolt 2 ports allowing you to connect the enclosure to computers running Mac 10.8.5 or higher and computers running either Windows 7 or Windows 8. Once connected, you benefit from enhanced Thunderbolt 2 connectivity and the ability to daisy-chain up to six compatible peripheral devices.
This eight bay Areca Thunderbolt RAID enclosure also comes with extensive RAID level compatibility. Whether you are looking for speed or redundancy, you can configure the drives to suit your needs as the enclosure supports a variety of RAID levels including RAID 0,1, 1E, 3, 5, 6, 10, 30, 50, 60, Single Disk, or JBOD.
To back up the enhanced connectivity and advanced RAID features, this Areca enclosure comes equipped with an 800 MHz dual core ROC for RAID core and SAS microcode. Along with the enhanced processing power, you benefit from 1GB of on-board DDR3-1333 SDRAM to ensure smooth operation when working with data intensive applications. Additionally, this enclosure can be monitored through a variety of methods including via the front facing LCD, the LAN port, or via the Thunderbolt 2 port.
- Thunderbolt Connectivity
- The ARC-8050T2 pushes speed to 20 Gb/s and enables 4K video file transfers and display simultaneously. With dual Thunderbolt 2 ports you can connect the enclosure to any Thunderbolt 2-enabled host such as the Mac Pro, and even daisy-chain up to six peripheral devices.
- Enhanced Performance
- The ARC-8050T2 is a complete 6 Gb/s SAS 8-bay Thunderbolt 2 box with RAID control for both PC and Mac. The ARC-8050T2 incorporates an on-board dual core 800 MHz RAID-On-Chip and 1GB DDR3-1333 memory to deliver enhanced performance hardware RAID protection against drive failure. It runs efficiently without disruption or major drops in performance to meet the requirements of a 4K data workflow.
- Enterprise-Class Data Availability and Security
- ARC-8050T2 supports the hardware RAID 6 engine to allow two HDDs failures without an impact on the performance of the existing hard drives. It allows users to hot swap drives in the event of a drive failure with zero downtime. Its high data availability and protection derives from many advanced RAID features on the ARC-8050T2 box design.
Intelligent power On/Off functionality turns the power on or off in unison with the host computer power status. It can intelligently power down the unit after the Thunderbolt host shuts down for data integrity. ARC-8050T2 also supports a battery backup option that protects all data in cache memory in the vent of unexpected power outage. Board-level hardware encryption manages any kinds of drives attached to the ARC-8050T2 without impacting the performance for higher levels of security. - Easy-to-Manage Storage
- Configuration and monitoring can be managed either through the integrated LCD control panel, Thunderbolt interface or LAN port. The intelligent cooling continuously adapts to environmental conditions by automatically controlling the speed of the cooling fans. You can even configure the ARC-8050T2 to intelligently spin down drives during periods of inactivity to further reduce noise and save energy. This Areca Thunderbolt 2 solution provides the user the ability to add bootable drives via Thunderbolt on Apple Thunderbolt-capable machines.
