Product description This black True Blue D40 4000W HMI Fresnel from ARRI is the largest fixture in the completely redesigned True Blue series. The 11.8" Fresnel with a beam angle variable from 6.5-59° is protected with stainless steel mesh. Pressure die-cast and extruded aluminum alloy components make the D40 lighter without sacrificing strength while improving corrosion resistance. Since front-heavy accessories like large softboxes are routinely used, ARRI has incorporated a sliding stirrup that allows you to find the light's center of gravity based on the weight of the accessory. A disc brake-type tilt-lock secures the head at the chosen angle with minimal force. Cross cooling channels the air through the housing so effectively the D40 can be used at almost any angle. Accessory brackets, a problem in the past, are now adjustable to hold 2 or 4 scrims or filter frames to eliminate light leaks. You can also use the D40 rain or shine thanks to improved IP23-rated weather protection. - Cross Cooling
- ARRI's Cross-Cooling system moves a stream of air around the Fresnel lens and through the lamphead. In addition, air is channeled through the extruded aluminum alloy housing, reducing lens and housing temperatures. Cross cooling allows ARRI True Blues to safely operate at almost any tilt-angle
- Adjustable Accessory Brackets
- Location crews need space in the accessory bracket for up to four scrims; studio crews suffer from the light leak this creates. Now two-position True Blue adjustable accessory brackets quickly accommodate two or four scrims. By reducing the space between the scrims and the lens, unwanted reflected and spill light is minimized
- Top Latch
- The Location Top Latch is specially coated for improved corrosion resistance and is spring-loaded for fast operation even when hot
- Sliding Stirrup
- Modern fixtures use a wide variety of softboxes, scrollers, and other front mounted accessories. Simply slide ARRI's stirrup bracket to quickly and easily adjust the fixture's center of gravity
- Tilt Lock
- ARRI's improved design creates a positive lock so there's no slippage when using heavy accessories. A stainless steel friction disc functions like a disc brake allowing the lamphead to be completely locked off with a minimum of force
- Optional Barndoors
- The D40's optional barndoors use a special alloy with a high strength-to-weight ratio. The barndoor leaves withstand bending and deforming far better than traditional barndoors. In addition, they are now easily tightened to avoid slipping while the larger leaf design provides better control and sharper cutoff
- Barndoor Safety Catch
- Although the top latch holds accessories securely at any tilt angle, the lamphead features a second safety catch mounted on the bottom accessory bracket that doesn't restrict rotation
- Stainless Steel Lens Protection
- The laser-cut hexagonal safety mesh maximizes light transmission and is tough enough to withstand location abuse
- Maintenance
- True Blue fixtures have been designed for serviceability using more common parts across the line. True Blues require only three Torx drivers to disassemble the complete fixture. Removing a maximum of six universal Torx screws provides easy access to all interior parts. ARRI's aluminum extrusion makes cleaning fixtures easy and an advanced paint process ensures that True Blues will look as good as they perform
- IP23 Weather Protection
- True Blue fixtures are manufactured to the IP23 standard and are suitable for indoor use or outdoor use providing a degree of protection against falling rain up to a 60° angle from vertical
- Safety Certification
- All True Blue fixtures carry not only CE declaration, but also an independently assessed TUV certification
- Photometrics
