Product description The ASUS RS520-E8-RS8 V2 8-Bay 2U Rackmount Chassis lets you build a NAS server with two optional Intel Xeon E5-2600 v3 processors. To keep up with these fast processors, it comes with eight DDR4 DIMM slots for each processor. It offers eight hot-swappable bays to house your SATA 3.5" drives. It also has space to house a slim optical drive in the front. You can further upgrade these bays with an optional SAS HBA card to provide it with a data transfer up to 12 Gb/s. In addition, it has a slot to support M.2 drives.
The RS520-E8-RS8 V2 comes with one PCIe Gen 3.0 x16 slot and two PCIe Gen 3.0 x8 slots. In addition, you have a single PCIe Gen 3.0 x8 link that is designed for a separately sold dual-port 10G Gigabit Ethernet card. To quickly deliver ample storage for your network, it features two Gigabit ports as well as a management LAN port. For visuals, it comes outfitted with a VGA port and Aspeed AST2400 graphics with 32MB of VRAM. It includes a 770 W 80Plus power supply and supports an optional redundant power supply. It also has four USB 3.0 ports and a Q-Code 80 LED indicator. - Effective Cooling with Rack-Optimized Design
- The four 80mm fans are adjusted manually, so you can have flexible control to meet different working environments. The RS520-E8-RS8 V2 features air-duct technology and a 2U heat sink so it can work at high operating temperatures.
- Mass Storage and Flexibility
- The RS520-E8-RS8 V2 is equipped with eight SATA 3.5" drive bays. The hot-swappable design provides non-stop high availability, making short work of maintenance. It also offers an M.2 slot as well as a slim optical drive bay. You can install separately sold ASUS Pike II SAS 12 Gb/s HBA cards to enlarge the capacity, improve the performance, and strengthen the signaling of the RS520-E8-RS8 V2.
- 3+1 Expansion
- The RS520-E8-RS8 V2 has high expandability with 3+1 expansion ports in a configuration that means one PCI-E Gen3 x16 slot and two PCI-E Gen3 x8 slots. In addition, it comes with a fourth PCI-E Gen3 x8 slot that is designed for an optional OCP Mezzanine 10 Gbit/s LAN card. This flexible expansion offers diverse applications in storage and networking to meet the demands of future expansion.
- Reliable and Efficient
- With ASUS Beat thermal chokes, Dr. MOS, and a 770W 80Plus Gold power supply, it delivers durability and up to 94% power efficiency. With an optional redundant power supply, the server keeps working even if one power supply requires maintenance, enabling uninterrupted operation. RS520-E8-RS8 V2 has 12k solid capacitors that are able to withstand up to 12,000 hours of high ambient temperatures. These 12K capacitors also boast lower equivalent series resistance (ESR) for increased efficiency and minimal heat generation.
- Diagnostic and Deployment
- From the early hardware-awakening stages to the launch of the operating system and beyond, the RS520-E8-RS8 V2 has a built-in Q-code/port 80 LED display panel so you can monitor the entire boot process. A brightly lit indicator on the rear lets you check the server's status instantly. The RS520-E8-RS8 V2 also benefits from a tool-less rail kit design, easing deployment for systems administrators for increasing efficiency.

- Remote Server Management
- With the Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) 2.0-compliant ASMB8-iKVM module, you'll be able to monitor, control, and manage the server remotely. ASUS Server Web-based Management (ASWM) enterprise has a simple and intuitive web-based graphical user interface. Save time by flashing the BIOS remotely, use the screen-recording function for quick and easy trouble-shooting, and exploit the many efficiency benefits of one-to-many centralized management afforded by ASWM enterprise.
