Product description The ASUS RS720Q-E8-RS8-P 4-Node 2U Rackmount Chassis includes 4 nodes that let you build a system with up to eight Intel Xeon E5-2600 v3 processors. Each node has two LGA 2011-3 sockets, sixteen DDR4 DIMM slots, two PCIe slots, dual Gigabit ports, and other connections. This chassis features eight hot-swappable 2.5" SATA 6 Gb/s drive bays that offer storage capacity for the four nodes. You can enhance the performance of the bays by installing a separately sold SAS 12 Gb/s HBA card. In addition, a single M.2 drive is supported for each node.
The RS720Q-E8-RS8-P comes with one low-profile PCIe Gen 3.0 x16 slot and a propriety PCIe Gen 3.0 x8 slot, which is designed for a separately sold 10G Gigabit Ethernet or InfiniBand card. For visuals, the node has a VGA port and Aspeed AST2400 graphics with 32MB of VRAM. To provide enough power to run the four nodes and the eight bays, it includes a 2000W 80Plus platinum power supply and supports an optional redundant power supply. - 1+1 Expansion in a Node
- The RS720Q-E8-RS8-P has flexible expandability with one low-profile PCI Express 3.0 x16 slot (x16 link) plus one proprietary PCI Express 3.0 x8 slot (x8 link), which supports an optional ASUS 10G or InfiniBand card. This proprietary slot applies a modular design that allows more flexibility for node arrangement.
- Mass Storage and Flexibility
- The RS720Q-E8-RS8-P is equipped with eight SATA 2.5" drive bays. The hot-swappable design provides non-stop high availability, making short work of maintenance. It offers an M.2 slot as well. You can install separately sold ASUS Pike II SAS 12 Gb/s HBA cards to enlarge the capacity, improve the performance, and strengthen the signaling of the RS720Q-E8-RS8-P.
- Cool Power Efficiency
- With a funnel-shaped air duct, the four fans can directly cool the components. ASUS has carefully placed the RS720Q-E8-RS8-P's cables, ensuring neat-and-tidy routing for optimal cooling efficiency and heat dissipation. It's even possible to adjust the fan's speed manually, so you'll have a flexible choice to meet different working environments.
- Reliable and Efficient
- With ASUS Beat thermal chokes, Dr. MOS, and a 2000W 80Plus Platinum power supply, it delivers durability and up to 94% power efficiency for HPC applications. With an optional redundant power supply, the server keeps working even if one power supply requires maintenance, enabling uninterrupted operation. RS720Q-E8-RS8-P has 12k solid capacitors that are able to withstand up to 12,000 hours of high ambient temperatures. These 12K capacitors also boast lower equivalent series resistance (ESR) for increased efficiency and minimal heat generation.
- Diagnostic and Deployment
- The visible Q-code/Port 80 LED on the rear panel displays the hardware boot up process, security phase, operating system phase, and more. It lets you check the system's status at any time without opening the chassis. You can load up your operation system on an optional M.2 drive, which offers fast data access in a small form factor. Also, the tool-less rail kit helps MIS personnel deploy the servers in an easy and simple way.

- The RS720Q-E8-RS8-P utilizes has been engineered for ultimate convenience, with a highly-modular design. Hot-swappable hard drives and power supplies combine with hot-pluggable nodes for effortless replacement and uninterrupted service. Each node has its own front panel for independent operation and caretaking.
