Product description The B&H Binocular Buying Guide Read More Ideal for discerning contrast and color variations, even in low or challenging light, the Athlon Optics 10x42 Talos Binocular will quickly become your constant companion when you're out birding, hiking, camping, enjoying sporting events, or sightseeing around town.The Talos is outfitted with anti-reflection fully multi-coated optics that maximize light transmission through the light path and improve contrast and color rendition across the entire visual spectrum. The compact roof prisms are made of BAK4 glass and finished with highly reflective silver and phase-correcting coatings that limit internal interference, light loss, and diffraction. These features work together to produce bright, sharp, and clear high-contrast views with accurate color fidelity and crisp resolution. Its combination of high magnification and large objectives is a favorite among amateur and professional users for its ability to bring distant subjects in for closer inspection while images remain bright and sharp even in challenging light—such as at dawn and dusk, or when peering into dense brush or under heavy canopies. To further improve the observational experience, the Talos is designed with a wide 65° apparent angle of view to minimize distracting hand shake that is common when holding high-power optics such as this and present a spacious field of view.Complementing the optical performance are construction details that allow the Talos to withstand the elements. The optical tubes are argon-filled and O-ring sealed to be waterproof and resistant to internal fogging if the weather turns or they take an accidental spill in a stream or puddle. Protecting the optical components is a composite chassis that is lightweight and durable as well as resistant to the expansion and contraction that metal suffers from and which can lead to fuzzy views over time. A slip-resistant armoring provides a sure grip, and raised-ridge palm-pad accents further improve grip strength. Athlon includes objective lens caps and a one-piece ocular rainguard to protect the exterior lens surfaces. To keep the caps and rainguard safe during use, they are tethered to the body and strap, respectively.
