Product description A Guide to Birding with Spotting Scopes Read More Designed to deliver the peak performance required for hunters, shooters, and tactical professionals, the gray straight-through viewing Athlon Optics Cronus Tactical 7-42x60 Spotting Scope has the power and durability that will make it your constant companion in the field, at the range, or in critical situations.This scope employs fully multi-coated, extra-low dispersion (ED) glass lens elements set in an apochromatic configuration that eliminates spherical and chromatic aberrations. When combined with its large broad-band anti-reflection fully coated objective, the results are bright and clear tack-sharp, high-contrast images with accurate color fidelity without distortion across the entire field of view. The exceptional zoom range is optimized for close-to-extreme long range. This allows you to take in a wide field of view for general viewing purposes, with the ability to draw subjects in close for more detailed observations.The non-illuminated mil-dot ranging reticle can be used to estimate the size of, and distance to, your target and calculate ballistic drop, greatly increasing first-shot accuracy. The reticle is placed on the first focal plane so its size remains in proportion to the magnification selected and its subtensions are accurate throughout the entire zoom range. Keeping the crosshairs and markers thin, with an open upper half, ensures an uncluttered and clear view. For increased accuracy during use, a Picatinny rail and riser mount are included that will accommodate an optional Athlon rangefinder or other accessories such as lights or illuminators.This version of the Cronus is configured with the eyepiece set in line with the optical tube to make finding your subject fast and tracking moving subjects easy. To withstand the rigors of the trail, range, or blind, Athlon built the chassis out of a lightweight and durable aluminum alloy and wrapped it in a protective gray rubber armor. The large focusing collar is slip resistant, making it easy to achieve a sharp focus in cold and wet weather or while wearing gloves. The optical tube is argon filled and O-ring sealed to be waterproof and resistant to internal fogging if it should accidentally get dropped in a puddle or stream. A custom-made stay-on/view-through nylon case is included that makes setup and breakdown on a tripod or other support system fast and easy while adding another layer of protection and providing the ability to react quickly when opportunities present themselves. - Optical Performance
