Product description The DarkCrystal HD Capture SDK Duo from AVerMedia is an HDMI and analog capture card that can capture up to four channels of video at once -- two HD channels and two SD channels. The card features drivers for Windows and can be installed in computers with PCI Express expansion slots. It features two HDMI inputs as well as a DVI-style connector that accepts a breakout cable used for the analog sources. On the analog side, it can accept composite, S-video, or component through each input. The card supports up to 1080p HD though HDMI, up to 1080i HD through component, as well as NTSC and PAL SD through any input. In addition, the analog video inputs are each accompanied by a stereo analog audio input.
The DarkCrystal HD Capture SDK Duo is Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 compatible, and also supports the DirectX 9.0c API (and later) for interoperability with many other third-party software. In addition, an SDK is available that supports multiple programming languages allowing custom solutions to be built around the card. Up two eight cards may be installed in one machine for surveillance and other applications that require multiple input channels -- a sufficiently powerful computer is required to support multi-card installations. - Uncompressed 4:2:2 Capture Support
- Via the HDMI inputs it is possible to capture 1080p video with up to 4:2:2 chroma sub-sampling. Because HDMI provides an uncompressed signal, in some cases capturing live via this connector can provide better image quality than what a video camera is capable of recording internally -- depending on how the HDMI signal is processed before it is output
- Digitize Analog Sources
- Using the analog breakout cable you can capture from most analog video sources, including 720p and 1080i sources. This allows you to digitize home movies recorded on analog tape formats such as Hi8 and VHS. It allows you to capture from home theater appliances and game consoles that have component, S-video, or composite output. A pair of RCA audio inputs allow you to capture stereo audio as well
- Image Adjustment
- Proc amp style adjustments allow you to control the color balance and other parameters of the video being captured -- this feature is only available for the analog inputs
- Third Party Software Support
- The DarkCrystal HD Capture SDK Duo is designed to provide interoperability with a number of widely used video editing, encoding, streaming, and playback applications found on the Windows platform, including Adobe Premiere Pro CS6, Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder, Microsoft Expression Encoder, RealProducer, and VLC Media Player
- API and SDK Support
- Supports DirectX 9.0c (and later) and Direct Show APIs to enable interoperability with a wide range of third-party applications, including custom-developed solutions. Multi programming language support through the SDK means if you do want to create custom software solutions you will have a number of options available to you. Supported languages include: Visual Basic, Visual C++, Delphi, C#, VB.NET
- Text and Graphics Overlays
- Titles, lower thirds, timestamps, logo bugs, and other text and graphics can be superimposed over the incoming video
- Advanced De-Interlacing
- De-interlacing combines fields to convert interlaced video to a progressive scan signal; this helps eliminate motion artifacts caused by interlacing
- Video Scaling
- The DarkCrystal HD Capture SDK Duo is able to down-convert HD and even SD content to lower resolutions for smaller file sizes or to create a more Web- or mobile-friendly format. It can also up-convert lower resolution sources to conform to HD or other higher resolution standards
- Image Flip and Mirroring
- Video can be flipped horizontally or vertically mirrored for special applications or to create an effect
- Capture to Buffer
- Incoming video is transported through a frame buffer. From the buffer, it can be sent to capture software or picked up by many third-party encoders, such as Flash, for Web Streaming
- Multi-Codec Support
- The DarkCrystal HD Capture SDK Duo can capture in uncompressed AVI as well as H.264, MPEG-2, WMV, and more
