Product description The DarkCrystal HD Capture SDK Video Capture Device from AVerMedia allows you to capture video on a Windows computer from a variety of HD and SD sources. It can be used to capture gameplay from a PS3 or other game console, to capture or stream from a camcorder, or even be used to capture or digitize your home movies already recorded on other media. It features an HDMI input and an analog input that uses a second HDMI-style connector and a special breakout cable (dongle) that is included. The breakout cable allows you to capture SD and HD resolution component and SD S-video and composite video along with stereo audio. Although there are two effective inputs, only one may be used at a time. - Uncompressed 4:2:2 Capture Support
- Via the HDMI input, it is possible to capture 1080i video with up to 4:2:2 chroma sub-sampling. Because HDMI provides an uncompressed signal, in some cases capturing live via this connector can provide better image quality than what a video camera is capable of recording internally -- depending on how the HDMI signal is processed before it is output
- Digitize Analog Sources
- Using the analog breakout cable you can capture from most analog video sources, including 720p and 1080i sources. This allows you to digitize home movies recorded on analog tape formats such as Hi8 and VHS. It allows you to capture from home theater appliances and game consoles that have component, S-video, or composite output. A pair of RCA audio inputs allow you to capture stereo audio as well
- HDCP Playback
- You can also use this card to play back HDCP-encrypted content on your computer, effectively letting you use your computer as a TV. HDCP-encryption is a form of copy-protection and is found, for example, on Blu-ray discs as well as some cable programming. Because of copyright restrictions this content is for viewing only; the DarkCrystal HD Capture SDK will not allow you to record video from these sources

- Proc amp style adjustments on the analog inputs allow you to control the color balance of the video being captured

- HD and higher resolution content can be scaled for SD-integration or to web-friendly resolutions during capture
- Text Overlay
- Titles, lower thirds, and other text can be superimposed over the incoming video
