Product description The PRE from Avid is an 8-channel, multi-purpose microphone preamplifier for Pro Tools HD systems. Although designed especially for use with these systems, it can just as easily used as a stand-alone microphone preamplifier. The unit features matched-transistor, hybrid microphone preamp circuits, and provides a transparent and pristine signal path.
When used with Pro Tools, most PRE features can be controlled from within the Pro Tools application or an Avid control surface, allowing for remote placement of the unit. With or without remote control, PRE can be configured manually using its front panel switches and displays. PRE can also be remotely-controlled by other MIDI devices through standard MIDI controller data. - Eight high-performance, matched-transistor, hybrid microphone pre-amplification circuits
- Support for microphone (XLR), direct instrument (DI), and line level inputs (1/4")
- Each channel includes a high pass filter, phase reverse, 48V (phantom power), and -18 dB pad
- Balanced insert points (Send and Return) for easy integration of outboard gear, such as compressors or EQs
- Fully remote-controllable using Pro Tools HD software or an Avid control surface - allows for the highest fidelity by keeping low-level signals close to the source
- Up to 9 PREs supported through software for up to 72 channels of remote-controlled preamplification
- Selectable impedance matching for microphone, line, or instrument inputs
- MIDI In/Out/Thru ports for remote operation
- Redundant hot-swappable power supplies
- All features supported in standalone mode, making PRE an ideal analog front end for any recording system
