Product description A Guide to Birding with Spotting Scopes Read More Built like a telescope and optimized for terrestrial use, Barska's Magnus 390x65ED 65mm f/6 ED APO Spotting Scope is engineered with a triplet lens configuration using extra-low dispersion (ED) crown and flint glass elements and a fully multi-coated optical path to virtually eliminate chromatic aberration so colors are rendered accurately without halos in high contrast. The short focal length and modestly sized objective produce a relatively fast focal ratio, making it an ideal digiscoping platform to capture photos and videos through the optical tube. Complementing the optical performance, and to further help imaging, the scope is outfitted with a Crayford-style focuser, which uses a gearless friction system to achieve a level of precision focusing that conventional rack-and-pinion systems are unable to do without backlash. The scope comes with an array of optical accessories to help you get observing faster. The 10mm fixed-focal-length eyepiece produces a 39x magnification, while using the 8-24mm zoom eyepiece gives you fast access to a magnification range of 49x-16x. By utilizing a telescope-style focusing system, the Magnus can mount any 1.25"-diameter eyepiece to give you access to an almost-limitless amount of magnification and accessory options. To put the eyepiece in a comfortable viewing position and to correct the image for land use, Barska includes a 90° erect-image prism. This prism features dielectric coatings, which have a better than 99% light reflectivity to preserve image brightness, contrast, and color. This iteration of the Magnus is offered without a mount or tripod for users who already have a mounting system, and it comes with a 1/4"-20 mount on the bottom to put it on most photo or field tripods. To protect the scope during transport and storage, Barska includes a hard carrying case that will hold the optical tube assembly (OTA) and all the included accessories. Whether you want to look at the Moon and planets, or go birding and nature viewing, the Magnus spotting scope is an ideal companion for all your glassing needs. - Optical Performance
