Product description Bering Optics' PVS-14BE Elite 1x High-Quality 3rd Gen NV Monocular & Headgear Kit offers a versatile, compact, and rugged night vision device that can be used handheld, mounted to a helmet or firearms, or worn with the included headgear. It features a 3rd-generation intensifier tube with an autogated power supply and a filmless microchannel plate, which increases the signal-to-noise ratio and efficiency of the intensifier. The tube is enhanced with the white phosphor screen technology that generates black and white images, instead of green images. The intensifier tube was also selected to contain no defects or "dead spots' in the central region of the field of view. The autogating greatly improves sensitivity in low light and varying lighting conditions, protects against bright light burnout, extending the life of the monocular. The manual gain allows operators to have full control of the trade-off between detail and image brightness.
To maximize image brightness in nearly total darkness, the monocular carries a built-in IR illuminator that casts extra infrared light on your targets. To add convenience and stealth for tactical applications, the device offers an activation status indicator and an automatic off function when you turn it up or take off your headgear. The 1x lens system, upgradable to higher magnifications with optional lenses, offers a wide 40° field of view and an ultra-short minimal focusing distance of 10".
The housing is made of a lightweight and impact-resistant polymer, offers fogproof and waterproof performance, and provides protection from adverse conditions and extreme temperatures. To prevent a spill-over of light from the intensifier tube and to provide a comfortable cushion between your eye and the eyepiece, the eyepiece has a wide rubber eye cup. The ergonomic body has knurled adjustment rings, and has a 1/4"-20 socket for mounting the device on a tripod.
