Product description The Beseler 45V-XL motorized chassis is identical to the Beseler #8545-02 enlarger chassis except that the #8546 model comes with factory installed, remotely controlled focusing and elevation/image size adjustment, while the #8545-02 enlarger chassis has manually operated focusing and elevation/image size adjustments. Beseler has been making 4x5" enlargers in the United States for well over half a century and the fully motorized 45V-XL is the finest, sturdiest, most automated and easiest to use enlarger that Beseler has ever made. It is a solid, reliable, and functionally superb productivity tool. All operating controls are right where they should be, resulting in greater productivity and in Its simple, well thought out design, meticulous fabrication from the best materials, precision assembly, and attention paid to small details such as final step laser alignment by a skilled technician, assures that it will always be a pleasure to work with a Beseler 45V-XL enlarger. The massive true vertical column, along with a perfectly aligned projection assembly, film stage and lens stage, results in an image in which the center and all four corners are in simultaneous sharp focus and in which the center of the projected image does not move, irrespective of the image magnification. The center remains stationary, even while increasing/decreasing the size of the projected image, so it is never necessary to move the easel in order to recenter the image from wallet size through larger than 24 x36" on the baseboard. In terms of illumination, the 45V-XL accommodates the 45M Condenser Lightsource (8121), the Dichro 45S Colorhead (8278), and the 810 Coldlight Conversion Kit (8350). It can even be purchased with pre-installed or retrofitted with baseboard controlled, motorized Power Elevation and Power Focus modules. The high performance 45M Condenser Lightsource for the 45V utilizes Beseler's patented "Cone-of Light" variable condenser system to adjust the position of the over-sized 6-1/2" optical glass condensers to maximize the illumination for every format 35mm through 4 x 5", yielding exceptionally short exposure times, a cooler film stage and less negative buckling than with conventional condenser heads Note: Does not include light source, lens, lensboard or negative carrier - Conforms to Title III, Section 302 of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, in that focus and elevation/image size can be adjusted remotely while seated
- The "V" in the product name is an acronym for Vertical, but it could also be indicative of its Versatility. It accepts three Beseler light sources, more than a dozen glass and glassless negative carriers, a host of lensboards, lens mounts, a three lens turret and a plethora of assorted accessories, plus accommodating a variety of third party condenser heads, colorheads, coldlights, V-C lightsources, film carriers, lens plates, etc. The 45V is Versatile.

For three-lens turret system (No.8225),
most enlarging lenses are equipped with a 39mm (Leica) mounting thread which will screw directly in to the three openings on the turret lensplate.
If your lens does not have a 39mm thread or if the distance from the mounting face to the rear of the lens is greater than 13mm, or the other diameter of the lens is greater than 54mm, then a lens mount or spacer is required(No.8370),
