Product description

HALI-B Kit
• This is an old Gretsch kit with old thin Zildjian cymbals. The drumheads are also old and worn, ideal for that old, cool, dirty sound. Instrument sizes are 22 x 14" (558.8 x 355.6mm) bass drum, 14 x 5" (355.6 x 127mm) snare drum, 10 x 8" (254 x 203.2mm), 12 x 8" (304.8 x 203.2mm) toms, and 16 x 14" (406.4 x 355.6mm) floor tom.

Beefy Ballad Kit
• A Yamaha Custom Drums Birch kit recorded in a small booth through an SSL 9000 console. This kit is quite compressed and tuned down for that beefy sound. Sizes are: 22 x 16" (558.8 x 406.4mm) bass drum, 14 x 5" (355.6 x 127mm) Ludwig Acrolite Snare, 12 x 8" (304.8 x 203.2mm), 14 x 12" (355.6 x 304.8mm) and 16 x 14" (406.4 x 355.6mm) toms. Zildjian K Custom 22" (558.8mm) Ride Zildjian A 17" (431.8mm) crash, K Custom 17" (431.8mm) crash and Zildjian 18" (457.2mm) A Custom crash. It also featured 15" (381mm) Zildjian Heavy Marching Cymbals Hi-hats and Remo coated Ambassadors drumheads on all drums.

Big Ambient Kit
• Like the Beefy Ballad kit except the bass drum was recorded shortly after in the studio's big room and features a 24" (609.6mm) Premier Genista bass drum.

The Retro Ambient Kit
• An old Ludwig one with 26" (660.4mm) bass drum, 14" (355.6mm), 16" (406.4mm) and 18" (457.2mm) toms, and 14 x 6.5" (355.6 x 165.1mm) snare drum. It features transparent Ambassador heads on toms and bass drum and was recorded in an empty public theatre. The idea was to get a big old sound, so a huge PA-system in which the drums were fed rather loud into was used. The sound of the Ambient 1 and 2 mics are mostly from PA-system. Ambient 1 was placed approximately 19.69' (6 m) away from the kit and Ambient 2 approximately (49.21') 15 m at the back of the room. The physical distance between the kit and the Ambient mics was long, too long. So, the delay caused by the long distance was compensated for in editing. All samples went through serious compression to get the most out of them.

Power Drum Kit
• This kit was recorded in the newly restored attic at Gjøkeredet Studio. The goal was to make samples that could be used in rock/pop rock that had attitude. So, the drums were recorded with the best preamps, mics, and outboards possible. The drums were also played quite hard, which is important for rockier music. Custom toms were recorded with REMO pinstripe heads. This combination has been used on thousands of records from the early '80s up until today.
