Product description The Violence Fractured Bundle from Big Fish Audio is a multi-dimensional and an innovative virtual instrument that harnesses unusual textures, manglings, distortions, and perspectives on the solo violin.
Created for both musical use and sound design, Violence features a deconstruction of a solo violin recorded from numerous angles: bowed, scraped, hit and plucked; played with mallets, chopsticks, guitar picks, and wet fingers. The sound design has been re-pitched, layered, and post-processed through an array of unusual tools to produce impressive sounds. More than eighty unique patches have been designed, each with a custom set of scripted knobs and controls, all conveniently organized into 4 categories of sounds: Drum Kits, Melodic, Pads and Sound Effects, and Tempo-Synced.
The inspiration for Violence came from the influential American composer John Cage, whose extensive experiments with prepared piano yielded new timbres and effects. What Cage did on the piano, Violence brings to the violin: a new and unorthodox approach to a traditional instrument, yielding amazing and fresh new instruments, textures, and sound design elements. Violence combines physical alterations with digital manipulations for a sound that straddles acoustic and electronic realms.
Violence is powered by the Kontakt engine. It is compatible with VST, AudioUnit, and RTAS (Pro Tools 7 & 8) plug-in formats, allowing it to work seamlessly within any major sequencer, in addition to standalone use.Prepared Acoustic Guitar is an innovative new collection of instruments featuring creative and esoteric samples and manipulations of various acoustic guitars. Following the tradition begun by Violence, Vir2's virtual dismembering of a solo violin, Fractured features 2.3GB of compressed samples and more than 100 instruments with numerous variations and effects built into each. Each patch features the organic goodness of the acoustic guitar, but stretches its timbre in new directions to create previously unheard musical effects. Drum kits are made with mallets, fingernail scrapes, metal scrapes, cardboard scrapes, and pouring rice over the guitar. Long evolving pads built from acoustic guitar samples blur the line between electronic and acoustic. Fractured also features playable and dynamic rhythmic loops and patterns, multi-timbral arpeggiated creations, huge cinematic impacts, gritty electronic drums, gnarly and ethereal melodic instruments, and more innovative sonic goodness.
It also features a variety of controls which are custom-designed for each of the 104 instruments. The instruments are subdivided into 5 major category folders including Chromatic Kits, Drum Kits, Melodic, Pads & SFX, and Tempo Synced.
Depending on the instrument loaded, appropriate knobs for tweaking the instrument appear in the interface, such as quantization, envelope controls (attack and release), stereo spread, lo-pass and hi-pass filters, layer blend controls, effects (reverb, delay, drive, flanger, vibrato, rotator, wobble, and others), autopan control, and Repeater.
Fractured ships with the free industry-leading Kontakt 5 engine. It is compatible with VST, AudioUnit, and RTAS (Pro Tools 8 and up) plug-in formats, allowing it to work seamlessly within any major sequencer, in addition to standalone use on both an Intel Mac and PC.
The Macintosh version requires an Intel Core Duo, 2GB of RAM, a DVD drive, and OS 10.6.8 or 10.7.x. The Windows version requires Windows 7 (latest Service Pack, 32/64 Bit) Intel Core Duo or AMD Athlon 64, 2GB of RAM, and a DVD drive. For optimum performance, Vir2 Instruments recommends a 2.0 GHz processor. The library requires 3GB of free hard drive space.
Fractured will run in standalone mode and is also compatible with every major sequencing package in the world, including but not limited to Apple Logic and GarageBand, MOTU Digital Performer, Digidesign Pro Tools (8 and higher), Steinberg Cubase and Nuendo, Ableton Live, and more.Violence features a variety of controls which are custom-designed for each of its 82 instruments.
