Product description

The ACU1009A ServSwitch KVM (VGA/PS/2) over CAT5 Dual-Access Extender Kit by Black Box, comprised of a local transmitter unit and a remote receiver unit, enables you to place a VGA monitor, a PS/2 keyboard, and a PS/2 mouse as far as 1000' from your PC's CPU, using a CAT5 cable. This extender supports video resolutions of up to 1600 x 1280 at 200', 1280 x 1024 at 393.7', and 1024 x 768 at 984.3'. A dual-access model, the ACU1009A enables you to operate your PC from either a local or a remote console (VGA monitor, PS/2 keyboard, and PS/2 mouse).

The local unit is connected directly to a PC's CPU or to the user port of a KVM switch using the included extension cable, and the remote KVM console is attached to the remote unit. On the local end you can attach a local KVM console which will contend with the remote station for CPU control. Every time the inactivity timeout period elapses, the dual-user extender switches automatically to the first station from which it detects a keyboard or mouse activity.

The remote unit features brightness and focus dials to adjust the screen image. Because the extender performs complete PS/2 keyboard and mouse emulation, you can boot the PC without having a keyboard or mouse attached to it. You can also unplug and replug the keyboard and mouse without disrupting the operation of the PC. The extender requires no software and is compatible with all operating systems.

The remote unit draws its power from the included external supply, and the local unit is powered by the connection from the CPU's keyboard port. Jumpers on the remote unit's board enable you to configure an equalization-adjustment range appropriate to the length of the cable connecting the local and remote units, and rotary controls on the remote unit enable you to adjust the compensation level while the system operates. The extender is compatible with Microsoft IntelliMouse and other wheel mice. You can even use a standard PS/2 mouse at one user station and an IntelliMouse at the other.

This extender is designed for use with CAT5 cable only. The tight wire twists in "higher" cables (CAT5e, CAT6, etc.) may degrade video signals.
  • Place your PS/2 keyboard, VGA monitor, and PS/2 mouse as far as 1000' from your CPU or ServSwitch
  • PC can then be operated from either the local or remote user station
  • Capable of 1600 x 1280 at 200', 1280 x 1024 at 300', or 1024 x 768 at 1000'
  • Uses a single CAT5 UTP cable
  • Fully adjustable video equalization, even at long distances and high resolutions
  • All signals are fully buffered to ensure consistent remote operation of your PC
  • Complete PS/2 mouse and keyboard emulation allows you to boot your PC without an attached mouse or keyboard
In the Box Black Box ACU1009A ServSwitch KVM (VGA/PS/2) over CAT5 Dual-Access Extender Kit
