Product description The ACU1022A ServSwitch KVM (VGA/PS/2/Audio/Serial) over CAT5 Single-Access Extender Kit by Black Box, comprised of a local transmitter unit and a remote receiver unit, enables you to place a VGA monitor, a PS/2 keyboard, a PS/2 mouse, an audio device (such as speakers, microphones, and headphones), and a serial device (such as a modem, printer, or touch screen) as far as 1000' from your PC's CPU, using a CAT5 cable. This extender supports video resolutions of up to 1600 x 1280 at 200', 1280 x 1024 at 393.7', and 1024 x 768 at 984.3'.
The local unit is connected directly to a PC's CPU or to the user port of a KVM switch using the included extension cable, and the remote KVM console is attached to the remote unit. The serial port enables you to connect almost any standard asynchronous RS-232 peripheral (including trackballs and serial mice) that operates at up to 19.2 kbps and doesn't require any control signals other than RTS, CTS, DSR, and DTR.
Through the bidirectional stereo audio interface, sound can be transmitted in both directions across the link at the same time. This way, you can listen to near-digital-quality audio from the CPU via speakers attached to the local and remote units. Just about any standard PC sound card or consumer audio device that doesn't transmit or receive signals at voltages above line level (5V peak-to-peak) works with the audio extender. And, as with the KVM and serial signals, the audio signals are fully buffered.
The remote unit features brightness and focus dials to adjust the screen image. Because the extender performs complete PS/2 keyboard and mouse emulation, you can boot the PC without having a keyboard or mouse attached to it. Your PC will boot even if your extender's remote unit is not powered or if no keyboard or mouse is connected to the local or remote unit. The keyboard and mouse emulation feature also allows you to "hot-swap" the keyboard and mouse at any time; you can unplug and replug the keyboard and mouse without disrupting the operation of the PC. The extender requires no software and is compatible with all operating systems.
The remote unit draws its power from the included external power supply, and the local unit is powered by the connection from the CPU's keyboard port. Jumpers on the remote unit's board enable you to configure an equalization-adjustment range appropriate to the length of the cable connecting the local and remote units. Rotary controls on the remote unit enable you to adjust the compensation level while the system operates. The extender is compatible with Microsoft IntelliMouse and other wheel mice. - Place your PS/2 keyboard, VGA monitor, PS/2 mouse as far as 1000' from your CPU or ServSwitch
- Connect speakers/headphones and microphones to your remote KVM console
- Connect a serial device (such as a modem, printer, or touch screen) to your remote KVM console
- Capable of 1600 x 1280 at 196.9', 1280 x 1024 at 300', or 1024 x 768 at 1000'
- Uses a single CAT5 UTP cable
- Fully adjustable video equalization, even at long distances and high resolutions
- All signals are fully buffered to ensure consistent remote operation of your PC
- Complete PS/2 mouse and keyboard emulation allows you to boot your PC without an attached mouse or keyboard
