Product description The ACU2009A ServSwitch KVM (VGA/PS/2) over CATx Dual-Access Extender Kit by Black Box, comprised of a local transmitter unit and a remote receiver unit, enables you to place a VGA monitor, a PS/2 keyboard, and a PS/2 mouse up to 984' from your PC's CPU, using a CATx cable (CAT5 or higher). The ACU2009A extender supports video resolutions of up to 1600 x 1200 at 656' and 1280 x 1024 at 984' and features skew compensation. A dual-access model, the ACU2009A enables you to operate your PC from either a local or a remote console (VGA monitor, PS/2 keyboard, and PS/2 mouse). All KVM signals are fully buffered to ensure consistent remote operation of your PC.
The local unit is connected directly to a PC's CPU using the included extension cable, and the remote monitor, keyboard & mouse are attached to the remote unit. On the local end you can attach a local KVM console which will contend with the remote station for CPU control. Every time the inactivity timeout period elapses, the dual-user extender switches automatically to the first station from which it detects a keyboard or mouse activity. This dual-access extender also features an enhanced private mode. In this mode, a local user can disable the remote unit or vice-versa.
The remote unit's deskewing technology removes color drift by delaying some color signals to compensate for differences in wire pairs. Skew compensation works with all colors transmitted, resulting in a maximum compensation of 42ns, which is sufficient for most applications. Independent low-frequency and high-frequency equalization adjustment enables you to fine-tune the video to match your cable type. Video tuning and configuration can be done by entering simple commands on the keyboard attached to the remote unit. Preset modes help you find the right image balance, and the "quick skew" feature facilitates fast video tuning. All settings can be stored in EEPROM memory. This extender's deskewing technology makes it suitable for running multimedia presentations at a distance.
Because the extender performs complete PS/2 keyboard and mouse emulation, you can boot the PC without having a keyboard or mouse attached to it. The extender is compatible with Microsoft IntelliMouse and other wheel mice. You can even use a standard PS/2 mouse at one user station and an IntelliMouse at the other. The extender requires no software. The remote unit draws its power from the included external supply, and the local unit is powered by the connection from the CPU's keyboard port. - Place your PS/2 keyboard, VGA monitor, and PS/2 mouse up to 984' from your CPU
- Dual-access model enables you to operate your PC either from the local or remote user station
