Product description The ACU4222A ServSwitch Micro KVM (Dual-VGA/USB/Audio/Serial) over 2 CATx Single-Access Extender Kit by Black Box, comprised of a local transmitter unit and a remote receiver unit, extends 2 VGA video signals and enables you to place 2 VGA monitors, a USB keyboard, and a USB mouse up to 164' from your PC's CPU or USB port, using 2 CATx cables (CAT5 or higher). Video resolution goes up to 1600 x 1200. The extender's transparent serial port extends one device that requires handshaking lines or three simple serial devices that don't require handshaking lines at rates up to 19.2kbps. This model also supports 16-bit, digitized stereo audio. The local unit is connected directly to a PC's CPU or USB port using the included extension cable, and the remote monitors, keyboard & mouse are attached to the remote unit. Two local VGA monitors can be connected to the local unit.
The local unit features DDC (Display Data Channel) on all video channels, which allows it to emulate universal monitors and ensure compatibility with multi-head graphics cards. For non-standard resolutions, you can choose the monitor through the operating system and set the unit to ignore DDC. Power is supplied to the local unit through the USB interface. An optional 5V power supply may be used for video applications or when USB power is insufficient to operate the unit. The remote unit draws its power from the included power supply. If either of the two units is connected to a power supply that creates an over-voltage (> 5V), external surge protection prevents the units from operating.
The functionality of the ACU4222A extender may be expanded by adding external USB hubs. However, note that the use of external USB hubs may decrease the extension distance by 30' for each additional hub because of the delay imposed by each new device. Solid-core, STP/FTP cables are recommended for use with this extender. Although stranded UTP will work, transmission quality drops significantly over longer distances and in electrically noisy environments. To ensure data integrity, minimize the number of patch panels used with these devices and keep patch cable lengths less than 16.4'. - Place your USB keyboard, USB mouse, and up to 2 VGA monitors up to 164' from your CPU or USB port
