Product description The BLUESHAPE BSMon v3.0 Battery Pack Monitor and Diagnostic Utility allows you to analyze various performance parameters of any video battery. It supports V-mount batteries directly and third party batteries via converter cables. The system consists of two pieces of hardware and a monitoring software (Windows-compatible). It works by providing a continuous load to the battery while you monitor performance on the software in real-time. Full battery parameters can be monitored for BLUESHAPE batteries and batteries compatible with the BLUESHAPE protocol, and voltage and current can be tracked for all other batteries.
Two hardware units are included -- the battery interface and the CBA unit (Computerized Battery Analyzer). The CBA unit delivers continuous load to the battery in up to 10A (~150 W), which is adjustable within the software. And the software provides charts and tools for tracking performance. Battery fleet performance data can be stored and thereafter exported via cloud services. The battery interface can alternatively be used as a standalone battery reader. Installed on any V-mount device together with a battery, it permits tracking battery behavior while the battery is in use.
An included mixed-signal cable connects the battery interface to the CBA Unit, and a USB cable is supplied for connecting to a computer. No additional power supply is required as power is provided by the computer. Batteries not compatible with the BLUESHAPE protocol are supported via standard banana plug inputs (red and black). - Software Utility Features
- The full battery parameters that can be monitored include:
Cycle Count The cycle counter reads how many times a certain amount of capacity has been removed from the battery. This counter is incremented every time 80% of nominal capacity is removed from the battery, even if a charge cycle occurs in between two different discharge cycles. This information can be useful in determining the age of the battery pack.
Pack Voltage & Battery Voltage Displays the total voltage of up to 4 batteries; this value is calibrated and has a precision of ±1mV. The pack voltage is also shown. This value is not calibrated and has an error of ±6% and can fluctuate. It represents the voltage read at the pack terminals.
Individual Cell Voltages Displays the single cell voltage of each cells. This value is calibrated and has a precision of ±1mV.
Actual Current Shows the actual charging or discharging current flowing in (positive) or out (negative) from the battery. This value is calibrated and has a precision of ±1mA. In case of a discharge current, the instant watt is also displayed.
Cell Temperature This is the actual internal temperature of the pack measured at the middle of the cell stack. All the safety protections implemented inside the battery refer to this temperature for their functionality.
Remaining Capacity Shows the available capacity accumulated inside the battery pack, expressed in mAh. This value decreases down to 0 mAh during discharge and increases during charge up to the max value allowed (full charge capacity).
Relative State of Charge This is the ratio between remaining capacity and full charge capacity. This is the value represented by the 5 LEDs when the LED button on the battery pack is pressed.
Full Charge Capacity Shows the capacity of the pack when in full charge state. This value is "learned" by the battery management system during the initial testing on the production lines, and is kept updated automatically during pack life.
Expected Time Shows the expected time to empty (in case of discharge) or the expected time to full (in case of charge) in minutes. The amount of time is calculated at run time based on the average current handled by the battery in the last 60 seconds.
