The sound of the headphones was designed by a team of both engineers and musicians to have deep bass and clear treble using Bose's Active EQ and TriPort technologies. Your ability to enjoy these features is enhanced through the active noise filtering circuit. Powered by a single AAA battery, the headphones utilize external microphones to capture ambient noise such as street sounds or the cabin noise in an airplane, which is then processed and mixed back into the audio signal out of phase to help reduce the ambient sound within the headphone mix.
