The lens provides a wide angle effect when used with full frame sensor cameras, and it can also be used on APS-C and 4/3 sized cameras, with a reduced wide angle effect. The optics consist of 14 elements in 10 groups with one aspherical and one hybrid aspherical element to deliver a crisp image and low chromatic aberration across the imaging field. Multi-coated optics provide good contrast and flare reduction. The lens features a wide aperture range of T3.1 to 22, and an internal focus design that keeps the front of the lens from rotating while allowing you to focus as close as 12 inches from the image plane.
Designed for shooting HD video, the lens features built-in iris and focus gears, allowing you to use available follow focus units and iris motors. The silent iris design allows you to pull aperture smoothly during a shot. The tulip-shaped lens shade is permanently attached, so you never have to worry about losing it.
