Product description A Guide to Birding with Spotting Scopes Read More The straight-through viewing Elite Tactical LMSS 8-40x60 Spotting Scope from Bushnell combines high-transmission optics with a nitrogen-filled aluminum housing to deliver reliable imaging performance in low light and wet conditions. At the core of the Elite Tactical LMSS is a fully multi-coated optical path, including BAK4 prisms and extra-low dispersion (ED) glass elements that minimize chromatic aberration and maximize the light-gathering ability of the lens system. The transmitted images are bright and color faithful with rich contrast and detail.This configuration from the Elite spotting scope series includes an 8-40x eyepiece that transmits a 250 to 50-foot field of view, ideal for intermediate- to long-range observations. The broad magnification range complements the eyepiece's long 30mm eye relief and twist-up rubber eyecup, which equip this zoom eyepiece for comfortable long-duration viewing. An integrated retractable sunshade shields stray light and is especially useful just after sunrise and just before sunset.In addition to the Elite Tactical LMSS spotting scope's premium image quality and user-friendly handling, this optic also features a nitrogen-filled aluminum housing that is built to deliver fogproof performance in heavy rain and humidity. A rubber-armored body also provides the scope with a non-slip grip that enhances the observer's grip in the rain or when wearing gloves. Further improving the inclement weather performance of the LMSS, exposed lens surfaces are finished with Bushnell's proprietary RainGuard HD lens coating. RainGuard HD prevents moisture from sticking to the objective and ocular surfaces, meaning clearer views and less cleaning of lens surfaces. - Optical Performance
