Product description The B&H Binocular Buying Guide Read More Portable, powerful, and durable, the Celestron 10x42 Gamekeeper Roof Prism Binocular is made with compact BAK4 roof prisms and anti-reflection multi-coated lens surfaces to boost the light-gathering ability and produce bright and clear high-contrast images with accurate color representation. This mid-sized model has larger 42mm objectives that improve its light-gathering ability to extend its use into the pre-dawn and dusk hours, when many animals are most active, without the weight and bulk of larger-objective models. Its apparent angle of view approaches wide-angle to help users find their subjects faster and to track moving targets easier, while minimizing the appearance of the distracting hand shake that is common when holding high-power optics such as this. For vibration-free use, or to free up both hands, this version of the Gamekeeper can be tripod mounted using an optional adapter. To withstand the rigors of the outdoors, the chassis is made of a lightweight, yet durable, polycarbonate material that remains a comfortable temperature even as the mercury falls, and resists the expansion and contraction that is common with metal chassis. Each optical tube is nitrogen-filled and O-ring sealed to be waterproof and resistant to internal fogging, so the Gamekeeper will continue to perform in even the most inclement weather. The entire binocular is wrapped in a protective rubber armor, with the Mossy Oak Bottomland camouflage pattern, to provide a slip-resistant grip that won't give your position away. A large center focusing wheel and diopter collar are easy to manipulate, even while wearing gloves, to ensure crisp and sharp images. Celestron includes a tethered one-piece rainguard and stay-on/flip-down objective lens caps that are easy to put on and take off without the risk of losing them.Easy to handle, powerful, and with a boost in low-light performance from its smaller 10x25 counterpart, this mid-sized Gamekeeper is an ideal addition to your kit on the trail, at the range, or in a blind. - Optical Performance
-
- High 10x magnification brings subjects close for detailed observations at long distances
- 42mm objective lenses draw in more light than smaller models to boost low-light performance without excessive bulk
- Compact BAK4 roof prisms deliver a round exit pupil, and a crisp and clear image with limited edge distortion
- Anti-reflection multi-coated optics produce neutral and accurate color fidelity across the entire visible spectrum, and improve contrast and image brightness
- 56° apparent angle of view approaches wide angle to help users find subjects quicker, and to minimize the appearance of visible hand shake common with high-power optics
- 294-foot field of view at 1000 yards
- Use and Handling
-
- Closed-bridge configuration provides a stable platform for the internal focusing mechanism
- Large center focusing wheel and right-eye dioptric collar are easy to manipulate, even when wearing gloves
- ±4 right eye dioptric correction allows precise focusing to individual eye prescriptions with a convenient thumb lever adjustment
- 56-74mm interpupillary distance adjustment range accommodates many users
- Twist-up rubber eyecups for comfortable use with or without eyewear
- 14mm eye relief helps to reduce eye strain and improves viewing comfort during long glassing sessions
- Comfortable 4.2mm exit pupil will completely cover most pupils as they open and dilate, as light fades
