Connect the 500GB M.2 SSD to the adapter and then install the adapter to a free PCIe x4 slot in your host system. This will allow you to install an M.2 SSD in your system, even if there aren't any M.2 slots. - Crucial 500GB MX500 M.2 Internal SSD Add up to 500GB of storage capacity to an ultra-slim notebook or compact desktop computer with the MX500 M.2 Internal SSD from Crucial. This solid-state drive features an M.2 2280 form factor and is equipped with a SATA III interface, Silicon Motion SM2258 controller, and Micron 3D TLC NAND Flash technology to deliver up to 560 MB/s sequential reads and 510 MB/s sequential writes. For securing sensitive data, AES-256 encryption and Opal 2.0 are available. Additionally, included along with the drive are mounting screws as well as Acronis True Image software, which provides an easy-to-use backup solution.

Through the remote efforts of a Tech was able to get back online, however, "settings" are only listed 1 - 5 with no action listed as was 'visibly' available, (i.e. Scan both sides, Black and White, Color, etc.)
