Product description Explore beneath the water's surface and stream live video without getting wet using the DTG2 Underwater ROV Starter Package from Deep Trekker. This portable remote-operated vehicle allows you to study marine life and environments and perform inspections under your boat, and has a 246' depth rating. It features a camera with a 700-line resolution. The onboard rechargeable batteries and handheld controller with 5.6" LCD and RCA output let you bid adieu to tethered topside boxes and eliminate power losses due to long feeds. An internal pitch system enables horizontal and vertical motion using only 2 thrusters.
The DTG2's controller is connected to a 164' low-drag polyurethane tether with a small 4.0mm diameter and a breaking strength of at least 90 lb. This allows you to lower the ROV into the water or pull it out and back onto your boat. The vehicle's on-board sensors monitor the motor's status and will immediately cut power if there is a fault. Normal battery life is 6 to 8 hr. An included smart charger plugs into the back of the ROV when above water and recharges the batteries in about 3.0 hr. A second included smart charger rejuvenates the controller.
The center viewing window goes all the way around the ROV, covering 360°, and acts as the lens port for the camera. Thanks to the rotation of the camera, the ROV has an effective 270° vertical field of view. Additionally, an LED floodlight tracks the camera for better illumination.
The ROV requires virtually no maintenance other than a freshwater rinse after a saltwater dive. Built to last, it has a cast aluminum body. Weights for buoyancy adjustment are included. - Depth Rating
- Can safely dive as far down as 246' below the water's surface.
- Patented Internal Pitch System
- Allows the ROV to move horizontally and vertically using only two thrusters. The system aims the thrusters at any angle from -90° to 90° from center, for a total of 180°. Operator can set the camera to hold steady as the ROV body rotates or to move with it. The pitch system works entirely from within the hull. It makes it possible to do very detailed inspections while easily holding a horizontal position, and to move very slowly over a seascape in a survey.
- Camera
- On-board internal camera with a 700-line resolution sends a live video feed to the topside controller. The optional DVR allows the video stream to be recorded to an SD memory card, and provides USB port for connection to computer. The center viewing window goes all the way around the ROV, covering 360°, and acts as the lens port. Thanks to the rotation of the camera, the ROV has an effective 270° vertical field of view that allows you to look straight up at the hull of a boat or straight down at the seabed, as well as anywhere in between, while driving the ROV. Additionally, an LED floodlight tracks the camera for better illumination.
- Power
- On-board rechargeable batteries and a handheld controller with RCA output let you say goodbye to tethered topside control boxes, and also eliminate power losses resulting from long feeds. Normal battery life is 6 to 8 hr. An included smart charger plugs into the back of the ROV when above water and recharges the batteries in about 3.0 hr.
- Control
- Commanding the DTG2 is easy via the supplied, handheld, ergonomic controller, which is designed to match the familiar size, form, and function of a video game controller. It has a bright 5.6" LCD screen and various LED indicators. The controller features an integrated live video feed from the ROV's camera, so you can see from topside what the ROV sees down below. It also has an RCA output enabling connection to TVs, other monitors, and recording devices. Optional converters will allow the controller to be plugged into most PCs, as well. The unit is splash-resistant but not safe for submersion.
- Tether
- The DTG2's controller is connected to a 164' low-drag polyurethane tether with a small 4.0mm diameter and a breaking strength of at least 90 lb. At 18.8 lb, the ROV is far below this weight limit, so it can be lowered into the water via the tether from the side of your boat or even from a higher vantage point, such as a bridge. It can also be pulled out of the water with ease. The supplied tether can be replaced by an optional longer one, which is available in 328' and 492' lengths to give you a much greater operating range. Just be sure you don't exceed the 246' depth rating.
- Construction Details
- Sized for good stability in the water, but small enough to transport by hand to difficult locations using the 2 carry handles. Well-protected propellers with 63mm diameters prevent debris from binding the output shaft. Powerful rare earth magnetic couplers offer maximum leak protection. The vehicle requires virtually no maintenance other than a freshwater rinse after a saltwater dive.
- Buoyancy
- The nominal buoyancy of the ROV is neutral. This can be adjusted according to water conditions and your preferences using the supplied stainless steel weights.
- Sensors for Motor Status
- Vehicle's on-board sensors monitor the motor's status and will immediately cut power if there is a fault.
- Additional Optional Accessories
- Mount for attaching your GoPro action camera to the top of the ROV.
2-function grabber with open/close functions, 360° rotation, and the ability to carry objects up to 50 lb.
Crawler wheels for maneuvering in tight spaces or along pipes or ship hulls
Auxiliary 900-lumen flood lighting.
Laser Scaler, which must be added when you purchase the ROV itself, provides 2 fixed reference points via laser beams to enable you to make estimates of an object's dimensions.
The video glasses allow for better visibility in bright sunlight. They are equipped with an AV in/out port for connection to the ROV controller. In the Box Deep Trekker DTG2 Underwater ROV Starter Package Super-Bright Screen Controller with 5.6" LCD for DTG2 Underwater ROV 164' Tether Rechargeable Batteries Smart Charger for ROV Smart Charger for Controller Weight Set for Buoyancy Adjustment Limited 1-Year Warranty Table of Contents
