Product description The Mythos STS Super Tower from Definitive Technology is a floor-standing speaker with a built-in SuperCube powered subwoofer. The subwoofer is built around a 5 x 10" racetrack-shaped, polymer-carbon composite cone driver powered by an integrated 300W Class-D amplifier and pressure-coupled to two planar low-bass radiators. For mids and highs, the Mythos STS uses an acoustically isolated D'Appolito array consisting of two high-definition 4.5" drivers surrounding a 1" dome tweeter. The speaker components are housed in a hand-polished gloss aircraft-grade extruded aluminum cabinet that uses various damping technologies to ensure rigidity and sound accuracy. The Mythos STS Super Tower stands on a polished granite base. - Integrated Subwoofers
- The integrated subwoofer is tuned to blend seamlessly with the mid/high speaker sections so you don't need to waste time tuning your subwoofers' crossover and phasing controls.
- Enclosure
- The slim, curved profile of the enclosure is designed to reduce diffraction. The granite base and the heavy toroidal transformer mounted on the bottom plate provide a low center of gravity for enhanced stability. The base incorporates five height-adjustable metal feet that may be fitted with either smooth furniture glide tips for wood or ceramic floors, or spikes for carpeted floors (tippers and spikes included).
The enclosure is made of extruded aluminum with internal ribs for stiffening purposes. Strips of damping material are adhered to the inside of the extrusion to suppress ringing. The baffle is made of non-resonant polystone and the midrange/tweeter array is isolated from the woofer enclosure by two pieces of MDF. Both woofer and mid/high enclosures are sealed. - Midrange Drivers
- The Mythos STS contains a D'Appolito array consisting of two high-definition 4.5" drivers surrounding a 1" dome tweeter housed in a sealed, acoustically-isolated enclosure. The drivers feature Balanced Dual Surround System (BDSS) technology that supports the speaker cone at both the inner and outer edges for longer, more linear excursion, greater clarity, and finely textured detail. The driver baskets are made of die-cast aluminum.
- Tweeter
- The tweeter is a pure aluminum dome that is heat-treated to relax the crystal structure and then coated with ceramic to produce extended highs that reveal nuance and shimmer—without edginess.
- Subwoofer System
- The subwoofer is built around a 5 x 10" racetrack-shaped, polymer-carbon composite cone driver powered by a built-in 300W Class-D amplifier and pressure-coupled to two 5 x 10" racetrack-shaped planar low-bass radiators.
- Sonic Versatility
- The Mythos STS is suitable for applications ranging from audiophile two-channel music to 7.1-channel home theater systems.
