Product description Enjoy up to 7.2-channel surround sound and wireless connectivity with your favorite speaker system and the Denon AVR-S940H 7.2-Channel Network A/V Receiver. It has Bluetooth and Apple AirPlay connectivity built-in for wirelessly interfacing with your compatible smart devices. The receiver outputs up to 90W per channel at 8 Ohms and features Audyssey MultEQ sound optimization to tailor the sound to your environment. It supports Dolby Atmos and DTS:X to create a more 3-dimensional sound space.
In addition to the wireless options, the AVR-S940H has eight HDMI inputs and two outputs, which support 4K, 4:4:4 color, and ARC. The receiver can pass-through the HDR10, HLG, and Dolby Vision HDR formats over HDMI, and upscale non-UHD HDMI sources to near-4K quality. It also has a USB port on the front for direct device connectivity. Built-in dual-band Wi-Fi will allow you to wirelessly connect to your computer or NAS for playback of your stored files. - 7-Channel Discrete Amplifier
- Featuring discrete power output devices on all channels, the AVR-S940H is designed to deliver high power and is rated up to 90 watts per channel at 8 Ohms. For compatibility with a variety of speakers, the receiver is equipped with low-impedance drive capability.
- Dolby Atmos
- Dolby Atmos surround sound technology dispenses with channel-based coding in favor of more advanced object-based coding, giving the sound designer the ability to precisely place sounds anywhere in the 3-dimensional space. The AVR-S940H features the ability to connect a 5.1-channel surround sound speaker system with two additional overhead speakers, or additional Dolby Atmos-certified up-firing speakers.

- DTS:X brings the home theater experience to new heights with its immersive object-based audio technology, which removes the bounds of channels. The flexibility of objects allows for sound to be scaled large or small and moved around the room, leading to a richer, more immersive audio experience in a 5.1.2-channel configuration.
- DTS Virtual:X
- DTS Virtual:X enables you to enjoy an immersive sound experience from a 2.1-, 5.1-, or 7.1-channel system, creating virtual height effects.
- Get the HEOS Experience
- Enjoy your favorite music in any room of your home wirelessly with built-in HEOS technology. Play the same song in every room, or select a different song for each connected room. Stream music stored on your home network by connecting to your HEOS wireless speakers or other HEOS-enabled receivers. Play music from TuneIn, Internet radio, Pandora, Spotify, Amazon Prime Music, iHeartRadio, SiriusXM, SoundCloud, TIDAL, Napster, and Deezer.
- Amazon Alexa Voice Control
- Control the receiver hands-free with your Amazon Alexa-compatible devices and your voice. Adjust the volume, skip to the next track, switch inputs between your different connected media players, and more. Download the HEOS Home Entertainment Skill to enable Amazon Alexa voice commands for the AVR-S940H, HEOS devices, and other select Denon products. Please note that availability varies by region and country.
- HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2 Specifications
- All eight HDMI inputs support 4:4:4 Pure Color sub-sampling, BT.2020 pass-through, 3D, HDR10, Dolby Vision, and HLG (Hybrid Log-Gamma); full 4K Ultra HD with 60 Hz pass-through and HDCP 2.2 processing is also available on all eight HDMI ports to support copy-protected content.
- Smart TV Connectivity
- Control the receiver with your compatible smart TV remote via the HDMI CEC functionality associated with your smart TV. Simply set "HDMI Control" to "On" in the receiver, then set "Smart Menu" to "On" and begin controlling the receiver with your TV remote. The Smart Menu home screen provides you quick access to source and surround mode selections, the receiver's setup menu, and four Smart Selects.
- Customized Sound by Audyssey MultEQ
- Every room has its own characteristics and acoustical anomalies, so the AVR-S940H is equipped with Audyssey MultEQ. With the included microphone, it measures the speakers in your home theater during setup and provides a smooth listening experience. Audyssey Dynamic Volume and Audyssey Dynamic EQ help smooth out annoying jumps in volume (such as TV commercials), letting you listen at lower levels and still enjoy clear dialogue, music, and sound effects, with tonal tailoring for full-range clarity at nearly any listening level. With the Audyssey MultEQ Editor app, available for purchase in your app store, advanced users can fine-tune their audio.

- With built-in Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and AirPlay connectivity, the AVR-S940H is equipped with a dual-antenna transceiver system for robust streaming, even in congested urban environments, allowing you to enjoy listening to your favorite audio content wirelessly from your compatible smart devices.
- Mobile Control with the Denon AVR Remote App
- The Denon AVR Remote app for iOS and Android allows you to adjust the receiver's volume, turn it on or off, mute the music, and select a source.
- Quick Select Functions for Simplified Audio Tuning
- The front panel features four Quick Select buttons that store your preferred audio settings for each source. Switch between TV audio, Blu-ray, media players, and more – and the receiver adjusts the EQ settings to your preferences for that media source. Use the buttons on the front panel or opt for the same Quick Selects on the remote for faster control.
