Product description Designed for fast and reliable overclocking, the X299 Dark LGA 2066 E-ATX Motherboard from EVGA has been built to be a performance apex and supports next-gen Intel X-Series processors and top-tier components. It is designed to fit in E-ATX (Extended ATX) sized cases, supports the LGA 2066 socket, the Intel X299 chipset, and is compatible with Windows 10 (64-bit).
The E-ATX form factor of the X299 Dark can support 64GB of DDR4 RAM, or 16GB in each of the four 288-pin DIMM slots at memory speeds of 4000+ MHz (OC). It also has a total of 8 x SATA III 6 Gb/s ports, six of which support hot plug and RAID 0, 1, 5, and 10, plus 2 x M.2 Socket 3 (Key M) slots, and 2 x U.2 slots (PCIe 3.0 x4). One of the M.2 slots supports 80mm (2280) NVME PCIe 3.0 x4 SSDs and Intel Optane Memory, while the other supports 110mm (2210) NVMe PCIe 3.0x4 SSDs. There is also one USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C port, one USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-A port, and six USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports, all external at the back panel, as well as one USB 3.1 Gen 1 header (supports two ports), and two USB 2.0 headers (supports four ports), all internal. For those looking to expand their system using PCIe, there are two PCIe Gen 3.0 x16 (x16) slots, three PCIe Gen 3.0 x16 (x8) slots, and one PCIe Gen 3.0 x4 (x4) slot.
The X299 Dark does not support integrated graphics or have any video outputs, meaning that users will need to purchase a dedicated and compatible GPU of their choice. Once that GPU is installed, multi-GPU support is possible with 4-Way NVIDIA SLI + PhysX technology and 4-Way AMD CrossFire technology. Using the Creative Core3D CA0132 Quad-Core audio processor with 5.1-channel audio, this motherboard delivers audio with high fidelity, which can be output using the five integrated 3.5mm audio jacks or one optical S/PDIF output. Network connectivity can be achieved using the dual Intel i219V (PHY) and i210AT (MAC+PHY) Gigabit Ethernet jacks, or install a Wi-Fi card in the available M.2 Socket 1 Key E (32mm) slot.
EVGA's X299 Dark LGA 2066 E-ATX Motherboard includes an I/O shield, two SATA III data cables, a vertical M.2 Key-E adapter, two M.2 thermal pads, ten baseplate screws and standoffs, a ProbeIT connector a 3-Way SLI Bridge, a USB 2.0 header bracket (4-port), a case badge, and a baseplate with visual aids. This motherboard is protected by a limited 3-year warranty.
Please note that RAM, PCIe, M.2, and U.2 availability and speeds depend upon the number of lanes on the installed Kaby Lake-X or Skylake-X CPU. With this kind of power, the X299 Dark is equipped with dual fans to maintain consistent VRM temperatures, even with water-cooled 18-core CPU overclocking.
- 100% Solid State Capacitors
- The X299 Dark is installed with 100% solid-state capacitors to help ensure a longer lifespan.
- Higher CPU Socket Gold Content
- A higher volume of precious metal used in the sockets improves conductivity and produces a cleaner signal due to less resistance and impedance.
- External BLCK / Clock Generators
- An external BLCK controller for fine-tuning Kaby Lake-X and Skylake-X system performance and an external clock generator for PCIe stability and performance.
- 8 x SATA Ports - 6 from Intel PCH & 2 from ASMedia ASM1061
- The X299 Dark features eight SATA III 6 Gb/s ports. Six are supplied from Intel PCH and two are supplied by the ASMedia ASM1060, which supports Windows XP for more benching OS flexibility.

- PCIe Disable Switches
- The X299 Dark offers PCIe disable switches to quickly shut off PCIe slots to troubleshoot or restore used resources without the need to physically uninstall hardware.
- ProbeIT Connector
- Attach your Digital Multimeter to the included ProbeIT adapter and monitor your voltages in real time.
- PS/2 Port
- Despite the X299 Dark's technical feats, it still features and old school PS/2 keyboard and mouse port to help reduce latency and resources for benching and gaming.
- Creative Core3D Audio
- Creative 5.1-channel audio with output amplifiers output audio with high fidelity.
- Intel VROC Header
- Intel's Virtual Raid On CPU (VROC) header provides support for CPU-attached NVMe RAID. VROC will work with many SSDs, but is currently only bootable with Intel SSDs and compatible with Skylake X-CPUs.
- Fan Headers
- There are two 4-pin PWM controlled headers and seven additional headers that support both 3-pin DC and 4-pin PWM. The selection of 3-pin DC or 4-pin PWN for those seven headers can be made in BIOS.

- 4-Way SLI Support
- The X299 Dark features 4-Way SLI support without the need for PLX chips. 4-Way SLI requires 44-lane Skylake-X processors, while 3-way SLI is supported with 28-lane Skylake processors and 2-way SLI is supported with 16-lane Kaby Lake-X processors.
- POST Indicator
- A multi-function POST indicator is fully configurable in the BIOS, and these LEDs can be configured to show temperatures, voltages, or cycle both in real time.
