Product description This AR127 127mm f/6.5 Achromatic Refractor Telescope package from Explore Scientific features a refractor optical tube assembly (OTA), a precise GoTo mount with the StarTracker computer hand controller, and a 2" adjustable-height stainless steel tripod.The OTA's doublet achromatic lens system virtually eliminates chromatic and spherical aberrations which translates to a distortion-free viewing experience with true color rendition across the entire field of view. The larger 127mm objective lens draws in more light than smaller apertures making this an ideal scope for making detailed observations of the Moon, observing the principal planets, and viewing deep-space objects like nebulae and galaxies and splitting binary stars. The scope has a heavy-duty 2" Crayford-style focuser. Unlike a traditional rack-and-pinion focuser, a Crayford-style uses a steel rod held tightly against the focus tube. This toothless friction system eliminates backlash and enables ultra-fine precision focusing. The combination of virtually aberration-free optics, precision focusing and a fast f/6.5 focal ratio make this telescope ideally suited for wide-field astrophotography and astroimaging.To guide and control the OTA, Explore Scientific includes Bresser's Exos-2GT computerized German equatorial mount and a tripod that helps take the guess-work out of astronomy and gets you observing faster. Controlling the mount is the SkyTracker hand controller. It has more than 100,000 objects with the ability for users to input custom coordinates and favorites. With a slew speed of 2°/second and nine tracking speeds the SkyTracker can accurately keep near and deep sky objects such as the Moon, planets, galaxies and nebulae centered in your eyepiece for long exposure imaging and astrophotography or prolonged observation sessions.The tripod is built with large 2" diameter stainless steel legs and tight tolerances to reduce vibration for clearer viewing. A center stabilizer bar pulls the accessory tray up to lock the legs in place adding further rigidity and vibration reduction. It is adjustable from 29 to 49" to accommodate a wide range of users and features large thumbscrews for tool-free adjustment in the field. An adjustable plastic tray is also included with the tripod to keep eyepieces, flashlights, and other accessories safe and at the ready.
