Product description Made of anodized aluminum, this Farpoint Vixen Dovetail Plate gets an upgrade with the addition of stainless steel strips on the clamping surface, which prevents dimpling and pitting from saddles that use set screws to secure it in place. Set screws often dig into the plate and permanently mark and mar the surface, which over time leads to sloppiness in the mounting system as the set screw wanders into the various old grooves that have been cut into the dovetail. Designed to fit 8" Celestron Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes (SCTs), the plate comes with a set of radius blocks that match the curvature of the optical tube (OTA) so the plate sits securely on the OTA and parallel to it. A set of mounting screws are also included to attach the plate and blocks to the telescope.
