Product description The PBC-6A - Vintage-y Compressor from FMR Audio is a mono compressor in a 1/3 rack size with five-parameter controls and a variable eight-position, second-order, side chain filter. It can be used to provide maximum flexibility in sculpting your sound for live and studio applications. The PBC-6A is capable of a large range of effects. Featuring 8 LED's for gain-reduction display and sidechain-filter frequencies, the Vintage-y compressor has five-parameter controls such as drive, knee, attack, release, and output settings. In addition, there are two push-buttons for bypass and thick, which restores the natural transient dynamics to the signal. Furthermore, in a minimum drive and knee setting, the effect is subtle and delivers a slight textural change to the source signal. Increasing drive levels and increasing the knee control permits a less gradual change from low-ratio compression to larger ratios, and presents smaller input-signal changes. This results in a drastic alteration of the source sound. Finally, whether you're trying to get a sound to "sit right" in the mix or create over-the-top sonic effects, the PBC can be adjusted to help you realize your vision. - NO THRESHOLD — There’s no threshold in the PBC-6A. Unlike compressors with threshold controls, the signal passing through the PBC-6A is always being compressed rather than compressing only those parts of the signal that are above a set threshold. This makes the PBC-6A a non-linear, compression amplifier (CA).
- LEVEL-DEPENDENT RATIO — The PBC uses a feedback configuration to help achieve its function. Along with this, the PBC's detector allows higher output signals to compress more than lower-level ones. With the lack of thresholding, the change in ratio is smooth and gradual from low-level signals to higher-level.
- KNEE CONTROL — This allows a transition from lower-to-higher ratios to occur over a smaller range than would “naturally” happen due to the PBC’s feedback and detector configuration.
