- Carrie Beene is a professional photo retoucher and educator who has done work for many of the world's most prestigious and well-known companies and publications, including but not limited to the following: Revlon, MAC, L'Oreal, Maybelline, Elizabeth Arden, Chantecaille, DEVA, Shape Magazine, Harper's Bazaar, The New York Times, Sports Illustrated, Cosmopolitan, Marie Claire, Elle, Glamour, Vogue, W, OK Magazine, Paper, V magazine, Vanity Fair, iD, Allure, and Arena.
In 1982, Carrie graduated from the Kansas City Art Institute with a BFA in painting. She subsequently moved to NY and began painting and showing her work there, as well as in Europe and the Caribbean, throughout the 80's and 90's before going digital. In 2000, she began retouching professionally and moved quickly into the high-end advertising sector. Carrie formed her own retouching house, Otto Imaging, LLC, in 2005, and now retouches for fashion and beauty advertising through Otto and CarrieNYC. Ms. Beene teaches in the MPS Digital Photography Department at the School of Visual Arts in NYC, where her classes include Beauty Retouching and the Business of Professional Retouching. Her speaking and training engagements include PhotoPlus, RetouchPRO, and PhotoshopPro webcasts, as well as frequent visiting artist lectures at the School of Visual Arts.
