Product description The Filmmaker's Eye combines the best of both cinematic worlds - the conceptual and practical. In addition to the basic principles of filmmaking, the book launches into colorful samples of specific shots and sequences, discussing how they work. Moreover, the author emphasizes "why" the shot works, again, both from conceptual and practical considerations. However, it doesn't stop there. Gustavo talks about when it is permissible to break the rules and how it may actually add to the shot. From the technical side, he outlines what equipment is required to get that certain shot.About the Author: Mercado is an independent filmmaker with over 10 years of experience producing, writing, editing, directing, and shooting films on film and high-definition video. His films have been featured in national and international film festivals, and one of his short films, "Sensitive" (2002), won the grand prize in the Showtime Latino Filmmaker Showcase. As an educator in Hunter College's Department of Film, Mercado teaches editing, screenwriting, film production, and cinematography. Table of Contents
