The Formatt HD Neutral Density (ND) 0.6 Schott-Desag B270 Crown Optical Glass Filter has been specially formulated as a result of extensive research into new applications for molecular A.C.T. dyes. The filters give more of a neutral grey without the specular effects from the particulate coatings of the current neutral density and neutral density graduated filters, which allows the user more precise control. The Formatt HD Graduated Neutral Density (ND) 0.6 Water White Glass Filter - Soft Edge has been specially formulated as a result of extensive research into new applications for molecular A.C.T. dyes. The filters give more of a neutral grey without the specular effects from the particulate coatings of the current neutral density and neutral density graduated filters. Often it is necessary or desirable to balance the light intensity in one part of a scene with another. This is especially true in situations where you don't have total light control, as in bright contrasty landscapes. Exposing for the foreground will produce a washed-out, over-exposed sky while exposing for the sky will leave the foreground dark and under-exposed. This filter enables cloud detail to be kept correctly exposed in the picture. Determining which graduated neutral density filter yields ideal results for any given lighting situation takes knowledge, experience and a collection of such filters. Choose the filter strength which adjusts the lighting to stay within the exposure latitude (greatest difference between bright/dark values) which still shows details in both of the digital or film medium in use. The Formatt Circular Schott-Desag B270 Crown Optical Glass Polarizer - Light rays which are reflected become polarized. Polarizing filters are used to select which light rays enter your camera lens. They can remove unwanted reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water or glass and also saturate colors providing better contrast. The effect can be seen through the viewfinder and changed by rotating the filter. The filter factor varies according to how the filter is rotated and its orientation to the sun. Formatt's Crown Polarizer enables you to achieve a level of optical performance previously unavailable. The polarizing film is fabricated between two pieces of Formatt's crystal clear white water optical glass. The absolute clarity of the glass combined with advanced polarizing material make crown Polarizing filters particularly effective on demanding scenes. Note: Circular polarizers are specifically designed for use with auto-focus SLR cameras (They will also work on manual systems and video cameras without problems) - This kit does not come with a storage pouch - Hi Def filters do not experience color shift - Specifically designed for use with High Definition filming

Neutral Density filters have four main uses - To enable slow shutter speeds to be used, especially with high speed films, to record movement in subjects such as waterfalls, clouds, or cars
- To decrease depth of field by allowing wider apertures to be used, which helps separate subjects from their background
- To decrease the effective ISO of high speed film (above ISO 400) and allow it to be used outdoors in bright situations
- To allow cine and video cameras (which have fixed shutter speeds) to film subjects such as snow, sand or other bright scenes which could cause overexposure
