Product description The Formatt Hitech 46mm Hot Mirror Filter is an infrared control filter that is designed for use with digital cameras that do not have a built-in IR-blocking filter. When the proportion of infrared light that reaches the imaging sensors of such digital cameras becomes too great, the results can show unwanted color shifts. This filter helps limit the light that falls on those sensors to the visible spectrum, preserving color accuracy throughout the frame as potential infrared color shifts are prevented or minimized. Similarly, this filter may be used with a digital camera that includes a built-in IR-blocking filter, but requires supplemental filtration if the amount of infrared light within a scene is beyond the built-in IR-blocking filter's ability to control. This filter is constructed from optical glass for clarity as well as color fidelity and features an aluminum-alloy filter ring for durability while remaining lightweight. When used, this filter's 0.1 density darkens the entire image by 0.3 stops. This reduction in exposure can be compensated for by adjusting the aperture setting of the lens it is placed on, or the shutter speed of the camera being used. - Designed for use with digital cameras that do not have a built-in IR-blocking filter.
- May be used to provide supplemental filtration if the degree of infrared light present in a scene is beyond the ability of a digital camera's built-in IR-blocking filter to control.
- 0.1 density filter with 1.25x filter factor darkens the image by 0.3 stops.
- Constructed from optical glass for optical clarity.
- Aluminum-alloy filter ring for durability while remaining lightweight.
- 46mm front filter threads.
- Plastic case for storage and transport.
