Product description This is the 4 x 6" Combination Graduated Sunset #3 / Graduated Neutral Density 0.9 Resin Filter from Hitech. Hitech combination filters are like having two filters in one. Often it is necessary or desirable to balance the light intensity in one part of a scene with another. This is especially true in situations where you don't have total light control, as in bright contrasty landscapes. Exposing for the foreground will produce a washed-out, over-exposed sky while exposing for the sky will leave the foreground dark and under-exposed. Hitech Grad ND filters are part clear, part neutral density. They allow the transition to be blended into the scene, often imperceptibly. This filter provides a 3 stop neutral density factor that can help when special effects like blurs are desired. This is especially effective when photographing running water or traffic where the photographer wishes the movement to be exaggerated within the image. It also allows you to use wider apertures giving you more control over your depth of field. The Sunset portion brings a combination of red, orange and yellow to the image that can transform a run-of-the-mill sunset photo into a real dramatic keeper. The 6" length allows for adjustment of the filter within the holder.
The Hitech filter system is made by Formatt - an English company that is renowned for its high manufacturing standards and consistency of quality. Their CR39 resin is manufactured in large sheets that are oven cured. Their exclusive Absorbing Cell Technology absorbs color as opposed to other filters that are coated. Once cured, they are sliced up to create individual filters. In this way, maximum consistency is maintained from filter to filter.
